.22Rimfire Actions

.22 Rimfire actions

Thanks for all the good information guys....looks like the Turbo is the way to go.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I don't know if Fred Jamisons 52 Winchester won anymore than the ones you listed but it sure did not win any less.

Yes James I forgot about that 52. Dorothy cleaned up a few years ago on the money pot at the ara nationals with that 52. And Ol'Cecil Smith used to do well with a sako finfire also and for that matter Wiley and Janet Westfall has a ULA that has won alot. And we canot forget Vicki Alber and her 64 anshutz the point being in my mind there is no 1 perfect action but there is a perfectly tuned benchrest setup its the man or women that spends the time and money to have a good gun built and spends the time and money to tune it with the perfect ammo and spend their time at the range. But if my money was going to build a new br-gun I would use a 40x then maybe a turbo or hall but what do I know? Years Gone Bye is a wonderful thing. But this is now.
This thread was started. Which custom action is the best to build on.
Indoor matches are a lot more to do with equipment than Outdoor. With changing conditions.

action

having owned a custom built turbo smithed by one of the more prominent smiths out there, then buying a 1961 c m p 40x all origional only to find out that the turbo didnt quite stand up to the extra $2400.00 difference in the cost of the two and a whole lot less tool marks and chatter on the 40 x action .

buy a 40x spend your money on goodys for it and you wont be disapointed
like i was
good luck

I probably should not say this...

...but, what Calfee allegedly does in choosing actions is pure BS. At some time or other other he has endorsed nearly all of 'em. (I have two he did and neither is worth a flip.) Flash is a good guy and builds a fine action. BUT, I have never seen Flash at a rimfire match shooting his product. Never. On the other hand, you'll have trouble finding a significant match in which Allan Hall did not participate, shoot one of his own actions, and score pretty danged well. I have two of 'em and if they ain't winning, it's my fault - not Allan's. Now, you do whatever the heck you wanta do but if it was me I would choose the one the manufacturer showed up with enuff confidence to shoot.

I ain't making nothing up. The guy asked a question. He or any body can do as they please. The numbers are what they are. Not the "Good Old Boy" crap

That's not what I meant. These things at some point begin to take on a life of their own, anything that begins with "what's the best".
