I'm planning on buying a new barrel for my AR15. However, Rock River does not offer a 1:7 or 1:6 twist in the CM barrels, only the SS.

Shilen and Kreiger web sites state that I would need a 1:6 to stabilize the 90 gr. bullets. What bullets would be stabilzed by a 1:8 barrel, regardless of what the 2 mfgs. say.

Thanks, Roy

most match ar's are ss with 1/8, but a chrome moly in the same twist will work fine.
80 is typicaly used out to 1000 due to availability and twist on rifles.
going to 90's is almost unknown territory..tho there has been work.
i believe you end up with a single bullet rifle..well no shot range bullets.

I have an 8" twist 22-250 that shoots the Sierra MK 69, 77 and 80's very well----no fast twist 223 experience.

Sierra suggested a 6.5" twist for the MK 90 but also suggested the possiblity that the 8" twist might work in very warm weather. The 90's shot very well at temps of 80 F and above----but were unstable at 60 F. As usual Sierra was right.
