22-250 accuracy

I've run every powder I could get my hands on through my 22-250, many are plenty accurate, and one of the reasons I love the H380, is because it throws so nice.

I can throw it a tiny bit under, and trickle it right in, in a heartbeat.

Cylindrical powders throw hard and trickle hard.

One of these days, I might buy one of those new fangled electronic deals, but for now, I throw/trickle by hand.

This load and group pertains to a Savage 12 BVSS stock out of the box
22-250 rifle.

Hornady 53gr match .010 off lands. Firefomed WW bench rest prepared
brass. Fedral 210 M Primer. 34.7grns IMR 4064 powder.

Conditions: 80 degrees. Humidity 75%. Winds 0-4 mph variable.
210 yds. 5 shot group 5/16X9/16 inch.

I have tried several other powders and even hand made benchrest bullets.
Only one hand made bullet performed as good as the Hornady and it was
a STARKY but they are not made any more.

Tbear:rolleyes:

A Rem VS that's on its second barrel. Even with the alum bedding plate, I skim bedded it. H380. Both barrels have preferred the 53gr SMK. I've tried other powders, including Varget and H414 but H380 has worked best for me.
It has a sweet spot. If I try to motor it too hard, it'll open back up.

you got it

beemanbeme, you got it. when you have a fickle barrel feed it what it likes best and live with it. Greg Moyer

Brian,

How have you fared in your search for the perfect load? Here in central Pennsylvania, the ground hogs are popping out of the ground like mushrooms. The Sierra 40gr. HP load has accounted for six so far (one miss).

Best,
Lance
