The current agenda can be found on the NBRSA home page:

http://nbrsa.org

Since the Southeast region members will not meet prior to the board meeting it would be nice, in fact crucial, to gather some of your thoughts concerning each item within the agenda. Please review the agenda and contact me in any way convenient to yourself. Use the contact form on the NBRSA site, send an email (wilburh@benchrest.net), pick up the phone and call, etc... Not necessary, but try to have an opinion for each item. Include your name for obvious reasons.

I would like very much to hear from those members that reside in Kentucky concerning moving Kentucky into the Southeast region. I submitted the item based on comments from a half dozen or so Kentucky members and the item speaks for all the members that reside in Kentucky.

Wilbur,
I am alittle confused why the Southeast region is asking for Kentucky to be moved from the Eastern Region to the Southeast region. It used to be that way and the shooters in Kentucky asked to be moved to the Eastern Region. Why doe sthe Southeast region only let southeast region shooters win the regionals and SOY programs. Most of this year we have heard that clubs are losing shooters for various reason. Now I have heard that there are shooters outside of the Southeast region that will not go and shoot in the Southeast region because they are not able to win all the awards and programs the Southeast region has. In other words isn't this discourging shooters from attending your regions shoots? I think it would be easier to just allow anyone to win your awards and programs.

Shooting In Regions

James, that does seem little odd. In the Gulf Coast Region, we have all of the usual Region and State Championships, plus a very competitive Shooter of The Year program, and they are all open to anyone who is willing to make the trip.
How about the other Regions. How are they set up??.......jackie

The Eastern Region...

... gives the trophies to the winners, including the traveling trophy, no matter where they live. And it awards the Shooter-of-the-Year and ER Hall of Fame points to whoever wins, no matter where they are from. Two years ago Larry Costa won the Regionals and his name is proudly shown on the trophy and in the HOF points listing. Larry only needs four more points and he will be placed on the ER Hall of Fame plaque on the wall at Kelbly's.

By the way, we like having Kentucky in the Eastern Region. My vote (if I had one) would be to keep Kentucky where it is. We wish that there was a range there that would hold matches so that we could have more places to shoot regional matches. Unfortunately, last year we lost the use of the Fairfield, Ohio range, which may have been the closest active range for any shooter who lives in Kentucky to travel to. But, there is always hope that we can bring more ranges and shooters in.

This is the first I've heard about moving Kentucky. Don't ya just love communication!!! As for me, Leave Kentucky where it is and allow anyone to be eligible for the various awards in the S.E.R.

P.S. This is the way Ed Watson set it up many years ago and its never been changed. The 2 people that keep track of and buy the HOF (Darn good job they do) trophies say they have the final say in who is eligible for the awards. I would think a general membership vote from the region could have this changed. Their is also a provision in the minutes that you have to shoot all the active ranges in the SER before you can be eligible for the HOF even if you already have the required 10 points. This only affects the HOF not the regional traveling trophies (SER championship and Shooter of the year trophies). I understand that some shooters were denied the traveling trophies in the past, This was not right. Confusing? That ain't the half of it!!!

Perhaps I can end any confusion

The agenda item to move Kentucky was initiated, seconded, voted on, and passed at the very much public SER meeting at the UNAKA gun club on July 5th of this year. Jeez JD, you were there!

There's nothing to confuse. The Southeast region members voted to place the item on the agenda - pass or fail.

JD - What would you think of a proposal to have the actual SE "hall of famers" control changes to the program?

Huh!

What is wrong with the members voting on it as we did at Rachel's Glenn last year? To my way of thinking it should be left up to each Region's members - unless NBRSA has a ruling for ALL Regions.
