The Third Annual “A.R.A. Indoor Winter Nationals” will be held at the Rocky River BR Barn near Aquadale, North Carolina on December 6 &7, 2008!

The ”A.R.A. Indoor Winter Nationals” will have the same rules and format as the Nationals in St. Louis-- eight targets total with five shot on Saturday and three on Sunday.

The range will be open Friday, December 5, for practice. Match will begin at 9:00 A.M.,Saturday and Sunday, with meals available both days. The fee is $50.00 for the two days ( $25.00 for Juniors), with lots of “wood” available for the winners. Jeff Braun, the owner of Rocky River BR Barn, will run the shoot, and Bill McConkey and Jim Fisher will be match directors.

Rocky River Barn is located near Aquadale, NC’ about 60 miles east of Charlotte, NC. The range is the best indoor shooting facility I know about-- with 21 benches, plenty of 4’x8’ tables for equipment and sale items. The range has good lighting, plenty of heat, digital timers visible from the firing line, bathroom, and a kitchen.

You can contact Bill McConkey at 423-842-4604; e-mail-jameswmcconkey@comcast.net; Jim Fisher at 423-877-2804; e-mail-Fedco@ aol.com; or Jeff Braun at 704-485-4148; e-mail- skeet3366@aol.com for more information.

We look forward to seeing you there. Let’s make this the biggest ever!

Now that all the outdoor matches are wrapping up, it will be good to shoot at the barn and see shooter's that I have not seen in a year. Hope Bob has plenty of ammo to test.

Getting a good response to the Indoor Winer Nationals. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the barn. Bill

Road Kill

For the last couple of years I have put 3 or 4 gallon pot of Road Kill Chili on the wood stove for the adventurous few at Nationals and not much was left at the end of the match. :)
This year I have a problem – No Road Kill.:(
Patches and I have been walking the streets looking for something recently run over and the only thing we have found was a mangled squirrel – UGH!
I even sent out an email to the neighbors asking them to clip a nice fat raccoon or Amarillo if they see one.
The way things are going it will be up to someone else to bring the Chili!
Thursday night would be nice.:D

I am given around 50 computers a year that have been donated to a non profit organization to repair and or clean up. The interesting thing in most cases after I am done with them they run better then the new computer people bought to replace them.

I have had some shooters contact me over the last 2 weeks with computer problems. I told them to bring them to the Barn on Thursday and I will hold a class on computer repair to include "Care & Feeding".
If you are coming to the barn on thursday and would like to join this class email or call me this week & I will tell you what you need to bring.

Motels in the local area

Would anyone like to make motel recommendations near the range??

Doug, I have some cats that the Coyotes killed and some birds that committed suicide by flying into my windows, so if you have the other fixings we should have some great Chile.
Everyone remember you do not have to pre- register to attend just show up with your shooting irons and fifty bucks for a lot of fun. Bill

Road clean up

We'll also see what we can scape of the Interstate as well. Of course, once we cros the TX/LA line, the pickin's get slim.

Road Kill Chili – Acceptable Ingredients::rolleyes:
Raccoon
Squirrel
Armadillo
Dog
Crow
Pigeon
Buzzard
But Cats Never – The best thing for cats is to back up and run over them again then maybe a buzzard might eat them.
If that turns out to be then case then drop remove that stupid Buzzard from the list above!

Doug

Fred,
Cats are Cute and I have nothing against them except when they get outdoors they can be devastating to wildlife.:(:(
With that being said I have had dog and cat on a stick. The dog was tasty but the cat was unpalatable.

Fred

Out in a state in the midwest the young men traval the roads looking for Ditch Tigers which they shoot because of the wildlife.
