.17 vs .22 for HV

Dave, I have tested all 3 calibers extensively over the past 6 months - indoors and outdoors. Imo your options are:
- .177 with 13.4gr JSB Monsters at 775f/sec
- .20 with 13.7gr JSB Exact at 800f/sec
- .22 with 13.4gr JSB RS at 810f/sec
It depends on your specific barrel and pellet batch - any of the calibers are capable of shooting scores of 248-250.

I've been using .177 JSB 13.4 Monsters for over a year now and have done quite well in HV, and so has Paul Bendix. The only difference between what I'm doing and what Paul does is: I prep mine by airgauging where Paul just shoots his straight from the tin.

10.3 jsb .177 vs 13.4 jsb in same usft in HV .
I've done a lot of testing to get a winning .177 HV gun ,using the same gun with 2 lilja barrels .22 and .177 with jsb pellets both cal. Were very good in the wind both shooting 19 fpe . I just won our match with the .177 barrel . I'll stick with that in HV . I also have been working with a open .177 gun shooting beast 16grn pellets it shows promise I'll be shooting it at the nationals .

Its pretty rare to see a .22 cal HV power level gun win
I have several very accurate .22 barrels, but I see no advantage in the caliber at 25M until the velocity is raised to approximately match that of .177 cal rifles. In OPEN class, the .22 cal seems to have have slight edge, one that grows at the 50 yard distance.
I think the PELLETS are slightly better, as the weight variation is the same as .177, but in proportion, is much less.

17 cal Lilja
Linzie , whats the twist rate on the Lilja 17 barrel , can they do 16 or 17 twist in the 17 cal barrels ? and may i ask what barrel diamensions you are using ? would it be around .750 OD x 24"

Sorry I didn't see your request till now , it's .750" 1-26 twist, 3 groove . 25.5 long . Not sure if they do that barrel in that twist but I think you would be better off going with the factory spec. Ciao
