Who is the 2016 National Champion?

Mike, I had not ever seen a hurricane before. I had no idea if the cooler would be in danger or not! ;) someone needs to win the lottery and buy me a plane lol, I would love to come down in late January and make sure that cooler is still okay! I usually have a pretty good case of cabin fever...

Who is the 2016 National Champion?

Danny, For whatever reason most of the long range crowd hangs out over on accurate shooter these days. It was one heck of a job those guys did putting on the match. I met a lot of folks and made new friends (even Mike). Friday was hurricane day, so it was a great time hanging out at the hotel...

    Weighing Bullets

Some 1000 yard shooters do weigh them. I personally do not, but I shoot mostly custom bullets. Tom

I have never tried this method...have you?

Sorry Boyd, I only test at 1000 for my 1k benchrest guns. Some of the guys can get em competitive tuning at shorter range. But I'm a firm believer of data and confirmation all at the same time. Tom

I have never tried this method...have you?

I'm sure nobody is going to beat anyone Wilbur. Here is an example. This barrel wants to be between .005" off (red) and .007" off (blue). We use the method in the video to keep them there. Tom

I have never tried this method...have you?

Boyd, you just stated one of the benefits and something it does not help me in any way to TELL my competition. I'm 3 for 3 on barrels since adopting the method in the video. These barrels have had a node jumping, and 2 of them in the lands. If the throat moved 1 thousands on Saturday, I advanced...

I have never tried this method...have you?

Wilbur, no it is just a starting point. It is a good spot to avoid actually. All my record holing barrels have shot somewhere within 10 thousands of there though, so I find it useful. Tom

I have never tried this method...have you?

Bart, you might find jam -15 and my touch +6 is the same darn thing. Or something like that anyway. It's just a repeatable way of finding a baseline to start from. Tom

Surely you are kidding right? Tom

I have never tried this method...have you?

It works flawlessly guys. I asked Alex to make and post the video, and it should really help. I know most of you over here have never seen a bullet with a double digit length ogive lol. But I'm not sure I've seen a musket ball like you all shoot. Jam length can be frustrating at times with long...

    Cartridge opinions?

Sounds like a great idea Joe. If we ever get a "school" off the ground over here, you'll have to come attend and learn how to make those little BB's really stack up. Tom

    Growing the IBS

We are gonna do more and more videos here at the Montana 1000 yard benchrest matches. We will even do some instructional stuff, some of that super secret black magic stuff. Along with an open invitation to visitors, and possibly a school of some sort in the future. Tom

    Cartridge opinions?

Joe isn't going to know what to do with a light gun that don't jump out of the bags. He might think he forgot to add powder the first few shots. Hope you realize there won't be any excuses now, lol. Boyd, my 2 cents worth is to just do a dasher. There's just something about it, it plain arse...

When does the case neck expand?

I've always just figured the neck lets go then the bullet moves. Reading along here, I'm thinking of the few times I've seen sooting on dasher cases. I don't have notes that I can find, but my recollection is that only happened when I played with too light of neck tension. Is it possible that in...

    IBS Winter Meeting this weekend

Joe, I totally understand and agree with what you're saying about the vise/trapping effect. But that part is still illegal, at least it will be here. The biggest point I was trying to make, since I will likely step up and volunteer my time, I need something clearly written. Tom
