Jim Pepper- need FP springs for 10x action

Turbo vs Pepper Springs Yes, the DiOrio Turbo springs are interchangeable with the 10X actions. However, if you can get the Pepper springs, go for it, they perform excellently in my three 10X actions.

    Cleaning Rods

Pro Shot Cleaning Rods I prefer the Pro Shot polished stainless steel cleaning rods over the one Ivy rod I own. They are a little thicker in diameter and not as flimsy when starting a snug patch into the chamber area with the 42" rods. I own five Pro Shot rods and (3 - 42"/ 1 - 36" / 1 - 12")...

Help a friend select a benchrest action

Turbo VI Ralph, The Turbo VI is readily available for $900.00 ... and in most cases, the action only needs some polishing as far as the blueprinting goes. It's a two lug action and a good deal for the economy minded individual. I believe Tom Wilkinson and Chuck Morrell compete with a Turbo VI...

Help a friend select a benchrest action

2500X Action If I were building a new RFBR rifle, and money/weight were not an issue, I would begin with a Holeshot Arms 2500X action. Have it fitted with a Shilen Ratchet .900" barrel, BixNAndy trigger and a McMillan Straightline (Solid Fill) stock. If money was an issue, then the DiOrio...

doghunter, Your description and drawing are most helpful. I plan to make a similar gauge. Thank you for sharing. John

    .22 lr rim thickness

doghunter, Your gauge is most interesting. I would appreciate knowing how you control wax/lube build-up in the area of the driving band, when inserting and measuring each Tenex round? Would appreciate seeing a photo, or two, of what the chamber insert looks like in your gauge. Did you use a...

    My first match

Bob is a very nice gentleman, who showed up at our match equipped with a Anschutz rifle and a two piece rest. He appeared poised and comfortable during the match, so I would have never guessed that this was his first organized RFBR event. We shoot three RFBR matches per month at HRPC, so Bob...

    News just in!!!!!

The shot does appear to be questionable, but the # 13 bull has a handwritten "P" which signifies plugged, so the rim of the plug must be touching the center dot or X.

    40XB questions

I fully agree with Hozzie ... John Langley would be an excellent choice for a gunsmith. Not familiar with rimfire F class, but John Langley built two of the top nine rifles used in the PSL Indoor competition at the Barn in December. Donald Hamblin was 3rd and George Donovan 9th. Both were...

Reamer/chamber for Winchester 1885 target rifle

Two common chamber reamers used in the 50 yard RFBR game are the Calfee II and the Eley EPS. One has a 2 degree leade the other 1:30. However, what works well at 50 yards, may not shoot to your satisfaction at 100 & 200 yards. The tight Lilja barrels are also not common on our equipment lists...

    .22 Rimfire Benchrest Barrel Length

I strive for a finish length of 26.500". Mainly use .900" straight, 16 twist blanks and have had better success tuning 26 1/2" length barrels. Nothing scientific ... just personal experience and preference. John PS: Did you possibly mean "Shilen" 16" twist ratchet?

    Nightforce for rimfire?

Like Bob, I also own a pair of NF Competitions 15-55X with the CTR2 reticle, which are used primarily during RFBR competition. They are truly excellent optics for our game, if money is not a issue, and the purchase will not bring about a divorce. I also own, and have competed using a 50X x 52MM...

    And yet more on lead!

Bob1949, I recommend the following two products to maintain a lead free bore. Shooter's Choice Lead Remover Item #LRS04 and a ProShot .22 cal. Rimfire Brush (Benchrest Brush) Item #22R. Use these two products after every match or practice session and your bore will remain lead free. Finish up...

    More on the lead remover:

Hello Pete, A few years ago, while attending a PSL match in St. Louis, Bob Finger and I were planning to have dinner at a little Asian restaurant, that Bob enjoyed go too. While we were still in the hotel lobby, in walks Dan Muller, owner of MullerWorks barrels whom Bob introduced me too. Bob...

Boerne IR 50/50 Match Results 2/1/17

It's not just possessing an excellent rifle and ammo, that wins matches. It takes a highly skilled shooter, and Les Williams is a very talented competitor! John

    Benchmark vs Shilen ratchet

Kevin1, Tom W., is one of the best RFBR gunsmiths in the USA and a top notch shooter in major rimfire competitions. What he stated above is correct. Of the four barrel options you mentioned ... fitted to a CZ455 action in a Varmit stock, I would suggest going with the .850" Shilen Ratchet...
