    Who made this barrel vice?

I've lived in the Charleston area (Isle of Palms) for a cumulative year and some as I ran two construction projects there, one in the early 90's and the other about 4 years later. I get the references. So my equipment is antediluvian, huh, like me? Actually that's correct.

    Who made this barrel vice?

I bought this barrel vice more than 20 years ago from one of the early benchrest competitors, Rex Dunn, a contemporary of Doc Watson and a Riverbend Gun Club from decades ago. Someone spent a lot of time with it because there are 5 different inserts like the one shown but with different...

    Who has barrels??

Ended up with a HV taper Bartline, 17 T, that is due for delivery to a certain very Humble gunsmith today for a chambering with his new minimum-neck-turn reamer. He's incorporated another unusual element to this reamer. Instead of the usual BR 1.55 max length and 1.50 trim to length, it's a...

    Who has barrels??

Trying to find a Bartline or Krieger, 30 cal. 17 twist, HV taper. Anyone know who might have something like that? Been out of competition for a few years and everything has gotten scarce and expensive. Thanks in advance.

anyone have experience with no turn 30 BR barrels?

Sorry, wasn't clear. Even with a "no turn" you still neck turn, but only the minimum amount to make the necks concentric. With Lapua, it only takes .001" +/- a small amount.

anyone have experience with no turn 30 BR barrels?

My 1st and most successful 30BR barrel was a no turn and I'm thinking of getting the barrel that I'm just about to do also as a no turn. I've been away from competition for a while and I haven't been keeping up but I figure a new bu** kicking 30 barrel will revive things. Anyone know if no...

How would you like to have this guy on the next bench?

This is from Riverbend Gun Club, north of Atlanta, one of the largest and best Gun Clubs in the nation, seriously, right at the top. We've thousands of members, hundreds of acres, and more ranges than you can count on all your fingers and toes. It is a members only private club. I'm sure there's...

How would you like to have this guy on the next bench?

At Riverbend Gun Club last Friday. I had to try several time to catch him just a couple of milliseconds after ignition. Can you imagine having this going on at the next bench while trying to shoot a match? The bottom shot is right out of the camera, not touched up. I guess a little distance...

    OT- If you are bored

None of my dogs are in that particular hunt so: Good Luck! Having a grandson in the game has to be a thrill but a kicker has to be hard on you. When there are 7 seconds left and it's down to a field goal attempt, I'd be too nervous to watch.

    Take off barrels

You know that you're very probably not going to be able to buy some takeoff barrel and screw it into your action and have it work? If you were a little flexible as to the caliber and chambering, you could have a lot more to choose from. All you're really tied to is a .473" boltface diameter...

    Shoot off a tripod?

I've got a Bogen 3051 that I use for studio stuff and occasionally to jack my truck up. Just kidding about that last but not by much. You wouldn't want to go on a long hike with the Bogen but talk about stable.

why do lead bullets require grooves?

Never been a cast bullet shooter but my understanding is that the grooves are lubrication related but I have to admit that I don't know why lead bullets need lube. Maybe because lead is soft and otherwise it will lead foul the barrel in short order. Edit: Oh well, someone with more knowledge...
