    Lens choices for cataract surgery

Vision in my right eye has degenerated rapidly, going from 20-20 corrected to 20-100 corrected and worsening noticeably. It is due to a cataract but my surgery has been put off until further notice. My left eye was to have followed two weeks later. The surgery will happen sooner of later. A...

I got beat up today by a 7mm Mag

About 15 years ago, my brother asked me to sight in a 12 ga 3" pump action slug gun that he had just bought for a Pennsylvania deer hunt. Won't do that again.

    Caldwell Rock Deluxe Front Rest

Don't know about bag upgrades but probably. Nothing to be gained from heavy sand in a front rest and I've found that tightly packed bags are "bouncy".

Francis, if you look closer, the shirts were Samoan and, obviously, WWII era cargo cult rejects.

    Well, This Worked.... (LONG,)

"I'll be happy if I die priming BUT, it's not a goal." Okay with you if I use that as my personal motto? I may change subject somewhat.

Thanks. It's like anything else, caring enough about it to try and to keep at it.

    6.5 Grendel

The new upper came in, visually at least I'm very happy with it. The net is full of people shooting similar to this and claiming .2 to .3 accuracy. I'm pretty sure the groups aren't measured with calipers or referring to what the gun will do group after group but I'd be real happy with .5-.7...

    New benchrest candidates

Hi Francis! I'm still a fanatic photographer. Good to see you're still kicking. Out of boredom, I picked up a "part time job" several years back and it seems to have taken over my life. I'm trying to figure how to extricate myself back to at least part time status and get back into shooting. It...

    New benchrest candidates

I'm putting together my first new rifle and caliber since the you tube era and have been cruising the internet looking for information. I'm finding video after video of young guys happier than clams at high tide over 1"-1.5" groups at 100 yards. I really think that if they ever shot back to back...

    6.5 Grendel

For some reason, I've decided to get another upper for one of my AR's and decided to go with 6.5 Grendel. A day or two of google work seems to show that a good quality upper and some load development can lead to .5 MOA or a touch less along with 800-1000 yard capability and medium size game...

    Scopes?

I haven't shot any benchrest in a while but photography has been one of my principle hobbies for a couple of decades. There are obvious parallels between scopes and camera lenses. Before you go looking for high levels of magnification, a prime characteristic of your scope optics should be...

    Primers

I thought I had a "lifetime" supply of primers and I possibly do but with Democrat talk of banning bullets, someone will eventually realize that you can make bullets and it will come down to primers and powder. I used to be able to buy unlimited numbers of primers for about $20-$25 per thousand...

    Lead for Cores?

Not so much sick as covered in stitches and puncture wounds (Cheryl, his wife, too) from breaking up a fight between his bulldog and his daughter's Rottweiler. They both had to go to the emergency room, his description of the scene sounded like bloody chaos.

    Wild stock paint

I've never spent serious money on paint for any of my rifles, I know I would screw it up with dings but I enjoy looking at the better examples. Here are a couple of rifles that I saw at the Riverbend match this weekend. Obviously belonged to the same guy, never met him before and forgot his...

    Southeast championship Riverbend

Good thing I read this I was going to try to break loose from my fishing down here to do a shoot. Good thing I read this, didn't know about the format change and would have showed up on Friday afternoon all dressed up and no place to go. Trolling in the Gulf of Mexico by Tom, on Flickr

    Darn Savage!

It's been like that with Savages for a couple of decades that I'm aware of. I bought one in the early mid-90's in 22-250 that originally got me started in the high accuracy game. I wonder what exactly made the design the most accurate? I suspect that there is something about the floating bolt...
