tuning n133 in a big temp drop

I’m not sure. I can get several more firings before they start acting up again. The primer pockets are the problem.at the pressures we shoot in that upper window, they are not going to survive forever.

Been Doing A Big Job For Past Three Days

The shaft simply slips through the bearings. The bearings are water lubricated. They are a brass shell with a hard rubber inside that has grooves molded in to enhance water flow. This size bearing starts out with .035 inch clearance over the shaft journal. Here is the brand...

Recoil spring question...I know not gun related

https://springsteelstock.co.uk/hardening-and-tempering/ Calvin, what you can do is heat the end that you want to form the loop on to a red. That should allow you to form it around a radius mandrel of the proper curl. After it is formed, continue heating to a orange color, and quench in oil...

tuning n133 in a big temp drop

Tom, I get more firings from PPC cases by using that die setup I made with no shoulder. I got the idea from Charles Huckabe. I just take a standard Redding body die and bore the shoulder out of it. What is left is a die with just a tapered body. Using a Arbor Press, I push the case in all the...

tuning n133 in a big temp drop

You are probably not going to like this answer, but if you want 133 to shoot consistently at a very low humidity local like Phoenix, you are probably going to have to shoot in the upper load window. That means 30+ grins behind a typical 68/65 grn bullet. I know several very good shooters who...

Been Doing A Big Job For Past Three Days

We keep a certain amount on hand, usually in the 7 to 8 inch diameter range. If we get a contract for a series of vessels, we will Oder a quantity to insure delivery and to get a better price. Here are six 38 ft 9” diameter bars we got in to satisfy a three boat contract we wil be doing over the...

Been Doing A Big Job For Past Three Days

It’s a traveling head bar. That feed head you see at the end has a 12 to one reduction. When you hold the hand wheel with a rope tied off, it causes the feed screw to turn 1/12 the revolution of the bar. The cutter head has a threaded key that advances the head. Here is a short video of me align...

Been Doing A Big Job For Past Three Days

One of our customers, G&H Towing, who operate all of the Harbor Tugs in the Houston/Galveston area, did a emergency dry docking on one of their 5000 horsepower tugs. The vessel is full ABS class. Inspection showed that both Stern Tubes were severely wasted. This meant replacing the tubes, then...

    Bullet making?

Yeh, but keep in mind Randy, these devices keep us waking up at 2:AM in a cold sweat, worrying about things we can’t do anything about.:p

    Bullet making?

Lee, several years back, I had access to a Vern Juenke machine. We spun a lot of custom BENCHREST bullets on it, and surprisingly, the vast majority only moved a few lines of deviation. Now, just what those lines represented has always been up for debate, as well as how many lines of deviation...

is 12 tpi an issue ??

I don’t think I have ever seen a lathe with an Imperial lead screw that would not catch a 12 tpi or any even number thread, on any number or any letter.

    Bullet making?

I am purchasing cores from Charley Hood. Years ago, I was making my own 6mm cores for short range, ( I still have the squirt die), it was by far the most aggravating and time consuming thing involved in bullet making.

    Bullet making?

I use pure Lanolin for jacket lube. George sent me enough to make thousands of bullets. I clean my cores with a spray cleaner we use at my shop. It does a great job, drys with no film. By the way if you want to see if your cores are truly clean, just drop a few in some clear distilled water. If...

New Meaning to the term: Chain Saw

When Hurricane Ike blew into the Galveston area, Bolinger shipyard in Texas City lost one of the older dry docks. They used two big barge cranes on each side, each pulling the chain. They sawed it into small sections they could handle. Thanks for posting the link. Fascinating stuff.

    Bullet making?

Through the years, I have experimented with the various 30 caliber bullets intended to be used in Varmint for Score. Keep in mind, 98% of your shooting will be done at 100 and 200 yards. At this range, precision trumps all other considerations. In short, you want the most accurate bullet...

    Generally speaking

My Bat NEUVO is a 308 bolt face and it extracts and ejects both a BR and PPC well. The only configuration that probably does not work with either is a drop port.

    bullet making dies

Jerry, the 30’s will be a hot item, as there seems to be quite a few VFS shooters. I just started making my own long range 6mm bullets as well as my 112 30’s. I am reluctant to invest in short range dies because there just isn’t enough group shooting in my area.

    Bullet making?

To individuals, J4 takes orders once a year, or so it seems. It usually takes about 5 months to receive a order. Or at least that is what it took to get my J4 30 and 6mm jackets. I ordered mine through Michelle or Jack Neary at Capstone. MHamilton@CapstonePG.com Periodically, shooting supply...
