    Any Experience with 222 Remington?

Done Deal I have made my decision. Russ Haydon is going to build my rifle in 222 Remington, with a BAT SB action, Jewell trigger and Krieger barrel. I have not made a final decision on a stock but I am taking a serious look at the Shehane Tracker Obeche Wood Laminate. To keep weight down, it...

    Any Experience with 222 Remington?

There are several reasons why I chose the 222. High quality brass is readily available. The recoil is very mild. It gives excellent accuracy with relatively light loads. It has history. Not everyone has one. As to the 220 Swift, if you load it up to it's maximum velocities, it is not good...

    Any Experience with 222 Remington?

If you wish to sell one of your 222s and it is ambidextrous or left handed, let me know.

    Model 37 Remington

Basically what vicki said... You will need a small diameter probe. I use a small allen wrench. I have a single shot adapted model 37. To remove the bolt I: 1. Open up the action as if for loading. 2. Looking down into the action, I insert the allen wrench probe into the small hole I see and...

    Any Experience with 222 Remington?

Thank you all for the advice and encouragement. There is no function with my right hand or arm that is of any use with firearms. I shoot left handed by necessity and shooting with a right handed bolt, while possible, is very awkward for me. I cannot hold up a rifle, while shooting and must...

    Any Experience with 222 Remington?

As some of you may know, I am a disabled shooter, able only to shoot left handed off a bipod or a rest. While I mostly shoot rimfire, I do enjoy hand loading and load development in centerfire rifles. Having taken a serious look at what is needed to compete with you guys, I decided to skip the...

    Anschutz BR-50 1907 VS. Anschutz BR-50 1913

The two rifles are priced the same at Champion Shooter Supply. What are the differences between the two?

    Anyone familiar with 20 PPC?

Thanks for all of the responses. My thought was a 1:9 twist so I could use the 50 grain bullets. I will have to research the 20-222. I am new to centerfire target shooting and never heard of it. I have to admit I am less concerned with barrel life than I am with reliable pin point accuracy...

    Anyone familiar with 20 PPC?

Has anyone tried the 20 PPC? Accurate Shooter raves about it, including claims of superior wind bucking. Last spring there was a guy at my home range shooting a BAT action, Krieger barrel, Jewell trigger, McMillen stock setup in 20 PPC and he was getting amazing 200 yard groups while fire...

    Promoting the Sport

Back in my youth, The Who sang,"hope I die before I get old." The funny thing is they sang it again at a recent concert. I guess they are so senile, they don't realize the irony. As for me, I began playing guitar in my 20s, riding motorcycles in my 40s and shooting in my 60s. I keep adding...

    Promoting the Sport

It seems I have been misunderstood a bit. I tried to be clear but some responses suggest otherwise. First of all, I am one of those old farts. I am 63 years old and retired. I do not see how age has anything to do with my issues except for the lack of new blood in the sport. In spite of...

    Promoting the Sport

Yesterday, I went to my first RBA three gun match. I did not go to shoot, just to observe. I went with Kimberly, who has been shooting RBA and IR 50/50 all spring. Because it was a regional match with the weather predicted to be in the 60s with clear skies, I expected to see a greater turn...

    Two Piece Benchrest Stock

No Interest in Selling I have no interest in selling my Martini. For one thing the falling block action works well with my particular physical limitations for shooting and maintenance. I can load, fire, dissasemble, clean and reassemble at the range, with one hand. My Ruger No. 1, also a...

    Two Piece Benchrest Stock

Thanks for the Suggestions Thanks for the suggestions. I actually have a forearm adapter that I got from Russ Haydon. It is a reasonable compromise. As to the rear stock, it is an original Martini 12/15 buttstock with a right handed cheek rest. As a left handed shooter, it already doesn't...

    Two Piece Benchrest Stock

As many of you may know, I am disabled in a way that makes me strictly a benchrest shooter. I am interested in trying a true benchrest stock on my Martini 12/15. I realise it would not be competitive against modern benchrest rifles but it would allow me to get the most out of what I have. In...

    Single Rifle (Rimfire) Competition

God's Country I've been to Texas. I thought it was fine country with friendly folks and a lot of history. Being from the soggy moss covered northwestern outpost of the lower 48, I am used to mild temps year round, snow covered mountains, endless evergreen forests and easily available deep...

    Single Rifle (Rimfire) Competition

Too Far to Drive Thanks Fred but the drive from Kingston, WA to Texas is a bit far for an evening of shooting.

    Single Rifle (Rimfire) Competition

One thing I keep hearing is the problem of not enough shooters to keep competition alive in many of the shooting sports. Locally, I have found no organized rimfire competition that I could join, which has class divisions allowing me to compete with a rifle I could afford or even with a single...

    No Questions

Opinions I know what opinions are like...Still I have been looking pretty hard at the .22PPC and the .20 PPC. Being a 200 yard shooter ocassionally interested in 300 yards, the results some are getting with these cartridges look pretty attractive to me. At my range a week ago, I met a guy...

    benchrest target

Crosshair Alignment What I have been told is you can use any corner of the square as a 90 degree point of reference to set your cross hairs on as your point of aim, with the center of the circle below the square being the intended point of impact. I'll have to try it sometime.
