    Remington Bolt handle re-location

The process of loading pictures here is or use to be complicated as I recall so if you PM me your email or phone number, I'll gladly send you a picture. I used Loctite Professional Super Glue to bond it. It isn't working as well as I would like but at least it works now. Pete

    Remington Bolt handle re-location

Welllll, here's what I did Got to thinking about this and came up with the idea of a shim. I figured if I cut a shim the same size as the face of the cam surface on the bolt and bonded it to the bolt, it would be the same as moving the bolt handle. I measured the gap between the action and the...

    Bob Pekaar

I sort of remember Bill Smith telling me Dr Pekaar was in an assisted living home but that was years ago now. Lou Budreau (sp) may know if he watches this board or is someone has his contact info, they might get in touch with Lou. Pete

Brass click part deux - same reamer

Sounds like The right thing to do. As cases are shot, they grow and get harder and harder where they aren't suppose to be annealed so one has to do something. Pete

Brass click part deux - same reamer

I have often seen the recommendation on here to open the ass of the chamber up a couple of thou using some emery on a dowel. They all say it works. I've meant to do one of mine to see but never think to do it. Pete

    Remington Bolt handle re-location

No luck will be required Dan My bolt is no more dangerous than many other rifles being shot on a regular basis. I plan to re-time the action myself. Pete

    Remington Bolt handle re-location

You might want to look At how Rimrock extractors are installed before you deem that folks should cut up their bolts, Just sayin. Pete

This may not matter a whole lot to most folks

Well, When the IBS item failed in that annual meeting all but one of those who wanted the change quit shooting abruptly. Sure , they could have continued shooting 6 MM's and the VH class was always open to any chambering so no harm no foul on anyone's part. The 6 MM doesn't give up anything to...

This may not matter a whole lot to most folks

Apparently, your logic is the prevalent one and has been for a number of years. People like what they like and believe what they believe. Probably all of the nostalgia for the old is all but dead and will be when the likes of Orland and myself are gone. It just a wonder any of us are left...

This may not matter a whole lot to most folks

A number of the old 6 X Shooters still bemoan allowing custom actions being used in the Hunter classes. They feel much of the essence of the game was lost by allowing them. I don't disagree. I have seen many a factory actioned rifle win matches over the years, Frank McKee, set a few records...

But today Brian Fitch won the first Bill Plummer Memorial Trophy for winning the 200 yard segment of the Maine Firecracker annual three yardage annual IBS score shoot, to commemorative Bill Plummer's long standing 200 Yd record of 250-9 x Bill shot in 1996 at Orrington Rod & GUN Club with a 6...

    Remington Bolt handle re-location

I saw that but couldn't quite get a mental picture as to how to do it. DO you mean drill the bolt handle or action? Pete

    Remington Bolt handle re-location

No, I didn''t believe the bolt was unsafe and why I won't cut it up. As I've said, I did witness a Sako extractor blowing out of a bolt on one occasion so I know it is a reality. The extractor was contained in the action so it didn't plow out of the action and he found the parts and put it...

    Remington Bolt handle re-location

I just added a reply to that youtube suggesting it is improper to drill through a Rem 700 bolt to install a Sako extractor and explained why. I have two of them, done by different Gunsmiths who drilled right on through. There is a much bigger hole a few degrees away done in the factory for...

    Remington Bolt handle re-location

Ok The bolt extraction cams do not touch at any position of the bolt's rotation. I have to wait a second or two to be able to open the bolt after firing to open the bolt easily. The bolt functions fine otherwise, or seems to anyway. I've watched a couple of Youtubes on these being repaired...

    Remington Bolt handle re-location

I have a Stainless Steel Remington action with a SS bolt handle on it's bolt. There is zero primary extraction with this bolt, which isn't all that unusual, from what I have been reading. Is there someone who visits here who will re-locate my bolt handle to it's proper location on the bolt to...
