6.5x55 Swede With a match chamber NOT military--the throat will be too long. Use Lapua brass. Perfect for a long action. More umph than the 260. Doesn't burn barrels like the 6.5/06. Make sure the smith fits the extactor properly.

Is it safe to leave the scope mounted when switching bbls? I torque mine to 100 ft-lbs and they come of without any bangs or pops. I takes a while to remount the scope and I'm trying to save some time but I don't want to ruin my expensive scope. Thanks

7-08 Powder WW 760 gives me high velocity and good accuracy. It is a bit temp sensitive. For pure accuracy with decent velocity, I'd go Varget or IMR 4064. Its really a pretty flexible round.

Long Throat Remington Out of the 6 I've had only one did not have a way long throat--a 243 winchester. All the rest had throats like you've encountered. I ended up using a lee factory crimper, because I could not seat the bullets any where near the lands.

Unless you have a custom tight necked chamber... I'd bet it work fine. I've necked them down to 7-08 and even down to 260 Rem and it worked with no problem. I can't tell that I'm getting better accuracy than with the remington brass I was using, but it sure holds tight primers much longer.

7mm-08 You get the accuracy of a 308 with better ballistics. Short action works fine. For game a shade smaller than Whitetails the Nosler 120 Ballistic tip will work great. I killed a bunch of whitetails with this load in a 7/08 with a 9 twist.

Barrel Torque? I came at it with a simple minded approach that has worked out fine for me. The lug nuts on my car call for 100 ft-lbs and that's what I use on my barrels. Its worked fine, so I'll stick with it.
