    Lead removal tool

Chore Boy works very well. Another method...Some years back , the editor of THE FOULING SHOT (Cast Bullet Ass'n. magazine) mentioned that he had excellent results removing leading using Shooters Choice, without brushing. He further commented that this was the only solvent he had tried for lead...

    35 Whelen Ackely Improved

Not really sure if a consistent "2 in, 1 out" would be indicative of a bore twist problem. I assume you have fired groups using different seating depths. If so, and before additional gunsmith work, I would try several bullets and maybe other powders. Some years ago, I had a couple of .35...

    222 Rem. info?

Bob Bell, long-time editor of Pennsylvania Game News and writer for various GUN DIGEST publications for decades, had a Sako .222 that he put over 12,000 rounds through. Bob was a woodchuck shooter rather than a benchrest competitor, but an accuracy enthusiast nevertheless. I don't recall him...

    Question for everyone

Some years ago, gun writer Ken Waters wrote up something on his own home-constructed muffler system. I don't recall the details, but you might find something on a Google search. It was published in either RIFLE or HANDLOADER.

    Thoughts on Lead Sled

I'm not familiar with a Caldwell Rock, but for the last twenty-five years or so, I've found a simple Hart pedestal rest with a Protektor front bag and Protektor bunny ear rear bag is hard to beat for most uses. The Hart pedestal weighs about 17 lbs. and will not move around on the bench under...

    219 wasp

.219 Wasp Years ago, I bought a .219 Wasp bench gun built on an FN action, complete with a Unertl scope. No taper to the barrel; gun probably weighed 12-14 lbs. I never loaded for it, sold the dies, and had the worn barrel replaced. However, 3031 was what the former owner recommended...

Warren Page in NZ with .240 Page Super Pooper

.240 psp Should have a barrel life similar to a .243 Win. or 6mm Rem.; from a ballistics standpoint there should be little difference. The .240 PSP case capacity is only slightly greater than the two factory rounds.

Warren Page in NZ with .240 Page Super Pooper

.240 psp GUN DIGEST, '61, pp. 39-44, ".243 or .244?" Includes photo of Page & Japanese deer killed in New Zealand using a BSA chambered in .240 PSP. This is not the article I was thinking about.

Warren Page in NZ with .240 Page Super Pooper

.240 Page I don't know whether or not there is an online index available for the various GUN DIGEST publications (GD, HANDLOADERS DIGEST, GUNS ILLUSTRATED, etc.), but in one of them that I have (far too many) I recall a photo of Page and a game animal taken in mountainous terrain with mention...

What impact does temperature have on velocity

temp. & velocity Speer used to publish a table in their loading manuals depicting a projected correlation between muzzle velocity and powder temperature with high velocity rifle cartridges. From zero to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the difference was about 200 fps, up to around 3,500 fps or so...

    Nosler Brass

Having used only one batch of 100 Nosler .308 cases, I can say it worked at least as well as Remington or Winchester brass. That includes longevity.

    Resizing mystery (to me, anyway)

case lube When I began handloading in the mid- 'sixties, I used Vicks VapoRub and later, Vaseline. I've used Imperial for years now, but don't recall having problems with the first two.

Might contact NECO; I think it was at their SHOT Show booth that the QuickLoad program was being demonstrated.

Hunting deer/elk with Sierra SMK bullets

I think the problem with using Sierra target bullets for hunting is that their expansion on impact is unreliable in comparison with a bullet designed for hunting. I used the Sierra .224" 53 grain flatbase hollow point target bullet in different cartridges simply because it was so accurate. When...

    Lyman SuperTargetspot repairs

Quality Scope Repair spent a good deal of time talking me through a problem (frozen parallax adjustment) I was having with a Unertl. As it turned out, I never had to send the scope in. They'll have my business in the future.

Remington 40 XBBR in .222 Rem. loading question

I'd like to second the Reloder 7 suggestion. Velocities may not be the highest, but I've found accuracy to be excellent in several sporters.

Used according to directions, I found Slip 2000 to have little or no effect on carbon or anything else.

Looking for info on a C C Johnson Remington Pistol

A number of years ago, PRECISION SHOOTING published contact information for C.C. Johnson's grandson. The grandson had records / receipts regarding the gunsmith's work. For a $5.00 fee, the info would be researched, copied, and forwarded to the requestor. The information usually had the date the...

    Insurance ?

Insurance I've used Collectibles Insurance Services for about ten years. They're reputable and have been around a while. Do a Google search on them. I don't have paperwork in front of me, but it seems that $30,000 coverage is around $200.00 annually.
