Whats the difference between cordite and modern powder? corrosiveness?

By what I have read about Metford rifling that it did good with black powder but with the introduction of cordite powder showed severe erosion with a reduction in barrel life. It does seem to favor soft lead though.

Check out the sanctioned organizations like IR50/50,RBA, and ARA. They already have rules and targets and you could get national rankings. It's not hard to join and can get help by asking other range masters.

The idea behind this is that the scope and receiver are made of different metal. As the steel and aluminum heat or cool at the range the metals expand or contract at different rates and cause stresses on the aluminum tube and can cause shift. I have a new rear bag with cordura ears and was wondering what to apply to the ears to make them slicker for the rifle to slide better?

Bring it to 50/50 match and shoot the funfire target to see how it would do. As long as it is still factory barrel, action, and trigger you can have fun and pick up some pointers and see how well it will do.

Did you have wind flags out? Up here in NY we sometimes run across conditions where there is no wind what so ever. When this happens, shots can drift all over the place due to the thermals on the range. you'd be suprized where the shots end up.
