    We Haven't Had A Good Car Thread In A While...........My '67 Chevelle

Al, thank you. As an engineer, I enjoy building things. When I retired, I knew I wanted to build a car, but as I have a Corvette, I didn't want another big V8, so after looking at lots of different cars, I settled on the Lotus Seven. It was a great choice, super fun to drive, scary fast, and...

    We Haven't Had A Good Car Thread In A While...........My '67 Chevelle

Mort; I would love to take credit for the headers, but asI said it was a kit Car, and the headers came with the kit. I am proud of the wiring job and the overall fit and finish. The last pic is my wife and I at the Tail of the Dragon, along with a lot of other Lotus 7's

    We Haven't Had A Good Car Thread In A While...........My '67 Chevelle

So here is a kit car which I built, again small engine, it has a Honda S2000 engine and 6 speed gearbox. The engine produces 240 hp , runs 9000 rpm, and the car weighs 1400 pounds. It is a replica of a 1967 Lotus Model 7. It made the cover of Kit Car magazine in September 2005 The frame is 1"...

    We Haven't Had A Good Car Thread In A While...........My '67 Chevelle

Here is another small engine car. My son's dune buggy. We assembled it when he was a freshman in high school. He wanted a dune buggy, so I agreed to fund 1/2 the cost, and build it with him with two basic rules. 1) He could not work on the car until he finished his homework. 2) I would not work...

    We Haven't Had A Good Car Thread In A While...........My '67 Chevelle

Lots of big block and drag pics in this thread. I had some smaller engine cars in the past. Here is my 1959 Berkeley, with an Excelscior 500 cc 3 cylinder, 3 dellarto carb, 2 cycle engine. Chain drive to the front wheels. 4 speed transmission, but no reverse. To get into reverse, you turned off...

    BR rifle for casual shooter?

oldbob: I was older than you when I bought my first benchrest rifle. It is a lot of fun shooting those small groups. I bought a used 6 PPC rifle with a scope on it already. I went in "whole hog", with dies, press, powder measure, barrel vise, action wrench, primer pocket uniformer, arbor...

Loss of a Great Competitor RON HOEHN

Scott, thanks for posting the passing of Ron Hoehn. I also heard yesterday that he had passed away. He had been ill for quite some time. Ron had built rifles for me, and he got me started in benchrest shooting. He was always helpful, and offered to be available when I was learning on the range...

    Annealing made perfect aztec sort

Just a suggestion, use a polishing media without ammonia, Windex has ammonia. Ammonia causes intergranular corrosion in brass, leading to cracking.

small test if a chargemaster lite

I agree. I added a small circular bubble level to the top of the case, next to the pan, and it cycles much better when level. These are available on Amazon, similar to this one...

    Yet Another Labradar Post

As Pat Miles said, the unit works much better when the muzzle is next to, or just in front of the side of the Labradar. Since the muzzle always sticks off the end of the bench, I mounted mine on a compact Travel tripod which I picked up on Amazon. They are available for about $40 and up. Also I...

    Shotmarker

I have Adam's Autotrickler and Autothrower as well, so I can add those to the "most toys list" :D

    Shotmarker

I have one and it is very useful. I particularly like it for the longer ranges where you cannot see your hits. I like having the data and screen shots stored in the tablet I use to view it, so I can study the hits and for ladder tests , the bullet hole locations. Adam is a very smart and...

Sizing die dimensions vs reamer dimesions

Why not try to set the sizing by chambering a sized case with firing pin and extractor removed from the bolt. When the bolt handle just drops freely, you have all the sizing you need. Only If this doesn't work, should you look for a new die.

Benchrest vs F-class and other genres of shooting Comps?

As a fairly old and experienced shooter, who is fairly new to benchrest, I can only say "IT'S A LOT HARDER THAN IT LOOKS!" Yes the rifle is quite capable, but the shooter must choose the right bullet, the right powder, the right neck thickness and tension, do the proper reloading techniques...

A question about "Applied Ballistics" software

Actually, after hitting MORE, you get 3 choices, EDIT, DUPLICATE, DUPLICATE TO FIREARM.

Need some advice on gun safe

If you put it in the basement, I suggest you put it on blocks to keep it off the colder, floor and to prevent moisture from harming the bottom. It also allows you to run a 115 volt cord under the safe, and through the hole in the bottom to place a heater in the safe.

    What's in your Pocket?

When I think pocket, I think concealed carry. Here is one which I carry all the time. A Seecamp 380. No it's not the most powerful, but it's better than going empty handed, and it is small enough to fit in the pocket. It makes a Ruger LCP look big.

    6PPC question

I am also a old reloader and a newer 6PPC shooter. I bought a used 6PPC benchrest rifle about a year ago, an have been learning ever since. Yes, the loads being used are not in the loading manuals, they are much hotter. I would only use them in a action in which you have great confidence. I...
