    22/250ai Verses 220 Swift

I once had a 22-250 AI I pushed some 4,000+ velocities out of it. But it didn't make it any easier to hit stuff. Still have to have your trajectory calculations in order. The hassle of fire forming brass. I can shoot a squirrel with my 20" bbl 223 at a 100 yds and he still blows up. But hey...

    22/250ai Verses 220 Swift

Swift AI was once called the 220 Weatherby Rocket. Roy Weatherby discontinued it cause it didn't perform up to his standards. But maybe now with advent of new powders it should re-examined ?

Mod 70 and the Brux bbl

I started this thread . My Mod 70 shoots great because of Brux bbl and experinced gun smith who trued up the action . He did say it wasn't to bad to start with. BUT when I bought the rifle it was an off the shelf Mod 70 classic in 270 WSM. It was average for 3 or 4 shots and then it would throw...

Mod 70 and the Brux bbl

Some one on this forum once said a Win Mod 70 is good for MOA at best because of its design. Mine stock from the factory in 270 WSM on its very best day could produce an occasional MOA for 3 shots until the bbl slightly warmed up. But since I had it re-barreled with a 26" Brux in 7mmWSM ...

Free Floating of the forarm is it absolutly essential

Well I floated it. Also learned on a Mod 70 there is a proper sequence in the tightening of the tang screws to make sure there are no high spots in the bedding. Well now my rifle is a shooter. I was able to shoot two groups under 1/2 MOA groups with Sierra 160 gr GK in front of 70grs of Re#25...

Free Floating of the forarm is it absolutly essential

Thought Laminate stock resisted well weather changes I want a 1/2 MOA rifle do I have to free float the forearm to achieve this ? Its not a bull bbl ,measures .670 at muzzle .

Free Floating of the forarm is it absolutly essential

Just received my re-barreled rifle from gun smith.I had a 26" Brux #4 contour installed on a Mod 70 Classic laminate stock. Gun smith didn't free float the barrel channel. Is it essential that be done even on a laminate stock ?

    Hornady's high BC claim

Hornady just came out with a 53gr V-Max with a BC claim of 290. How can that be true? It weights less then their 55gr V-Max. Yes it has a boat tail design ,but so does Nosler's 55gr BT. Its BC is lower then Hornady ?????
