    effectiveness of clean case interior

    thanks to all who have provided meaningful replies to my post. I'm someone who fell for the "sparkling inside and out" methods and found both the tumbling or sonic cleaning much too onerous. I think I'll be going back to some of the minimalist methods.

    effectiveness of clean case interior

    the comparison I'm asking about is accurate vs. inaccurate, whether it's a $5000 BR rig or an off the shelf AR15. Does having a clean case interior, not neck, make a difference. enough definition for you?

    My new rifle and bullet seating depth.

    I went out today for the first time with my new Savage 12BR (6mmbr). I loaded 50 rounds with 30.5gr of Varget and 50 with 29gr VV135. All I varied was seating depth. My best groups were 1/2" at 100 yds at +.005 and -.010 with both powders. Does that seem likely? I'm new to reloading and...

    LT32; 80gr.bullets

    OK, I see the numbers on the Accurate chart for 70g and 87g. I'll just extrapolate for my 80g's. I'm thinking 25.5 to start and up to maybe 28.7 max. Should have checked that chart before posting.

    LT32; 80gr.bullets

    had Bruno's include a pound on a recent order but can't find any data for 80gr (Berger FB) bullets in my 6mmbr. Manufacturer's response was "keep checking back". Anyone have a safe load? thanks.

    WTB Fudd top

    think of it this way Greg. Is the half minute time savings having the turnbuckle that important? I personally thought not, particularly after multiple emails and telephone messages went unanswered. I would think that, since you have the Farley, you might have better luck trying to obtain one...

    Picatinny rail for 40x

    that's correct. I was thinking on using the front Davidson mount only with 2 Kelblys rings on it and mounting the scope so that the rings were ahead of the turret. Al

    Picatinny rail for 40x

    would you happen to know if it's the front or rear mounting holes that are the problem. I'm currently using Sig Zee rings with eccentric inserts but would like to switch to a setup I've seen on another forum. The picture I saw had the scope mounted with double ring on the front mount. I...

    Lyman Super Target Spot rear mount problem. Help needed.

    On the scope I have, I've taken that ring off in order to repair a stripped screw hole in the cylinder that the crosshairs mount to. If you do take the ocular off be very careful of the crosshairs like LouisJ said. I'm beginning to wonder if the previous owner glued that knob in place. If you...

    Lyman Super Target Spot rear mount problem. Help needed.

    below is an excerpt of a post I made on RFC when I disassembled the knobs: "Part 1 is the pad. It was almost glued in place from the old grease. I added some Kroil to where the black pin on the pad fit into part 3. Eventually it loosened up to where I could pull it out. At this point it...

    Lyman Super Target Spot rear mount problem. Help needed.

    there were a different knobs depending on serial number. do you see pads that look like item labeled 1? If so I think you may have to remove the entire rear mount and soak it. I don't know how the earlier versions come apart. I believe mine, shown here, was of the latest variety.

    using Iosso Bore Cleaner

    not what I was hoping to hear. Would it be a bad idea to make a blanket statement along the lines of "ten strokes on a brush would most likely take care of any carbon". I'm a casual shooter. I won't be buying a bore scope. thanks, Al

    using Iosso Bore Cleaner

    I've noticed that, even on a clean bore, using Iosso bore cleaner will show black patches. It does the same thing on a spoon from my kitchen. The question is, how do you know when you've used it enough?

    Good .22LR for BR at 50Y

    if you like Anschutz http://www.killoughshootingsports.com/index.php/rifles/locklin-anschutz-3061101.html I'm a shooter who doesn't compete. This is what I shoot. For a 64 y.o. old guy I do pretty well with it. Although these scores aren't great with respect to the guys with custom built...

    repairing stripped screw hole in aluminum

    My Lyman STS has a stripped hole in the aluminum cylinder that the recticle mounts on. the hole is for a 3-56 screw. There's another screw and hole 90 degrees from it that's intact so I am able to secure the recticle in the position I want. These screws are loosened so the the recticle can be...

    Benchrest Range and Match near Long Island

    hey neighbor, where do you shoot now? What kind of a setup do you have? I've got stock Remington 40X and Winchester 52D and my newest, an Anschutz 1913 in a Kelblys BR stock. The rest is a Hart Varmint with a Sinclair windage top and a Protektor mid ear rear bag. I know, definitely not "pro"...
