Is there any place in the US a person could live where the wind doesn't blow 15 to 20 Knots per hour every day besides Gene's tunnel! I have seen very few days in the past year at the places I have been where the wind didn't blow quite briskly every day! Guess I didn't notice when I worked every day.

In my 60 years in the Houston area, i don't ever remember when the dang wind was blowing just about every day.
The last 6 or 8 months we have had from brisk winds to 20 to 25 mph blast -almost every day.

I live in Cleveland about 40 miles north of Houston - i'm starting to hear others comment on all the wind we're having. Now sometimes early morning or late evening the wind lays enough to make noise! joe:)
 
When I was in Ft. Hood TX, the wind would blow directly in your face no matter what side of the building you'd stand on.

I just got through messin' around with my "first prototype" wind flag. I set it up on top of my BBQ pit on my balcony to watch what it does (or doesn't do)........and wouldn't ya know it..............DEAD CALM. Never like that out on the bay, or at the range....dadgummit! Anyhoo, yea, it's been real windy lately. I was born and raised here in Houston and I don't remember it being windy all the time back in the day. Course, I was racin' cars and chasin women so what would I have known....:D

I think Al Gore has cursed us.

From experience in Seattle and Montana, I'd have to say that Al's right. What are considered high winds in Seattle are just breezes here. Still wouldn't move back there though.

Thanks for those links. Very interesting to see my home state IL's changes through the seasons.

It shows from almost no wind in the summer, to quite harsh winds in winter, tapering through spring. To me, it had always seemed windy!

Those are indeed interesting. looks like the South is the place to live if one wants less wind, eh?

I developed a "warm" feeling about the South, in general, during my Walkabout there this winter. One thing that is particularly nice is the roads; great roads to everywhere one wants to go and NO SALT on them! I suspect I will be quite happy there somewhere someday. People are nice too; a different place than it was in the early 1960's.

Maybe we have all changed some since the early '60s.

We are all more alike than we are different, except some of you have accents.

Seems to have become more like those on TV like we all have. Yes, there is no one living today who had anything to do with either the War or Slavery among a number of other issues. Most of us see the world pretty much the same I believe. High time we all became Americans. We NEED to be now, more than ever!

I will say that some of the dearest friend I have made in my life are Southeners. I always loved the difference in our way of speaking and views but like I said, I believe much of it has gone away.

I spent six or seven weeks searching for the lowest priced "Senior Coffee" at McDonalds throughout the states I treaveled in. I found it in Georgia; Fiffy eight Cent! Now, they appreciate Seniors at that store.

I couldn't agree more! :)

And the accent thing is funny. I LOVE accents but trying to find a real one is getting harder every day.... even you Texans and Down-Easterners are being assimilated. It wasn't long ago that you could tell what STATE a guy was from, no more.

"DOG" still has three syllables here in Tennessee! :D

I shoot two to three days a week on my home range (1000 yds) and the only time we do not have wind is very early in the morning and very late in the evening. The rest is a series of winds coming from every direction and bouncing up and down all these hills. They are mild but I had a much easier time shooting in the faster flatland winds. Seems like a faster constant is still better than a slower irregular. IMHO

And Pete, you visit around my area let me know and the coffee will be on me!
