Thanks, John
I earned money for my first car ( 47 Ford ) by flagging for a crop duster in the summer.

The planes used were Stearman's. They were pretty common at the time and many were modified for dusting.

On a work bench in the hanger was an Offy Indy motor. If the rest of the car was around somewhere I didn't take notice. I was still into flat head's and twin pipe's.

I really liked the video. I have never seen model planes of that scale. That has to really be a blast to fly.

Stick or automatic? Either way it it doesn't really matter...it's a real ride.

It's the 8 speed automatic. He had a 2012 ZR-1 with the manual, as it did not come with a Automatic as an option. He got tired of the stick pretty quick.

He did his 1/4 mile runs with the trans in full auto mode, even though you can shift it in manual. He gets better times with the car doing the thinking.

It goes through in 5th gear at the end of the quarter.

College days...

The Berkeley I owned in college days in front of the stone house my father built. It was totally impractical, especially for one who lived in Michigan, but I loved it. Lots of wonderful memories re: my Berkeley.

My current toy...

I bought this in 2003 and have done a little upgrading each year since then. It is a pure delight to drive on the twisty two-lanes here in the Northwoods. There's enough room in back for my match equipment. Glorya and I have had some great weekends taking this to Michigan's UP, staying at the casino at the Soo and shooting in Joe Haller's rimfire matches. Note the license plate.

5th gear? ....and he has 3 left? He is already doing 125, so what is the top end? Holy smokes! The split between the gears must be really tight to be in 5th. What is the ratio in 1st and the rear end ratio?

When I was running a 6:14 having a 5th gear might have helped a little. On the other hand it's just another gear to miss .

I would be afraid to drive that Corvette on the street. I'm pretty sure I would end up hurting myself. I'm at that age where I'm content to let the wife drive.

License plate

At first I couldn't figure out what it was. Wearing my glasses helped and what I saw surprised me. I like the plate but is it legal? I didn't see any numbers etc.

Get the grayhairs off the road

I didn't know guys lived that long. :D

I actually do drive once in awhile, but it is limited to my pick-up truck which I use for varmint hunting. The 40 Ford now belong's to my son and the 1966 Corvette is under a cover in the garage...so I'm just driving the pick-up,at least for now.

Michigan only requires a license plate in the back of the car. We put whatever we want or nothing in front.

Some states require front and rear plates but don't enforce it on older vehicles. I had couple of speeding tickets in my Corvette where the lack of a front plate wasn't an issue.

Something a little different. Back in the day we were able to run our "sports" cars on a city street course in Anchorage, Alaska. It was ran in the winter and was called the Anchorage Rondy Grand Prix. It was held in conjunction with the Anchorage Fur Rondezvous. The article below describes the car that I built and ran in the 1979 race.

I found an old 1959 VW Ghia and stripped it. I installed 911 disc brakes all around, a Porsche steering gear box. Next came a 5 speed Hewland gearbox with straight cut gears. I found a RX4 Mazda engine in the wrecking yard with 4,000 miles on it. Since it was new "almost" I was able to sell the parts off of it to the Mazda dealer clearing the price I paid. I bridgeported the engine ports, built headers, and used a Racing Beat intake with a modified Holley carb. 350hp wasn't much, but the car weighed only 1475lbs. A KEP adaptor mated the Mazda engine to the Hewland.
It won the race first time out.

Had to travel to Connecticut today for work and rented a car (mine is 22 years old and burns a lot of fuel). Mileage reimbursement more than covers the rental, so no big deal.

So the guy at the desk suggests an upgrade. Seems I had a enough points accumulated. I jokingly asked if they had anything fast. "How about a 2017 SS Camaro?", he replied. Now here's the irony. I've wanted a silver SS Camaro for a while now. Just haven't brought myself to write the check. I asked what color, he said 'silver', and off I went.

6.2L, 455 horse. And what it did on the NJ turnpike leads me to believe Advantage didn't re-govern top end

Gotta love fate. I'll probably be in a Chevrolet showroom real soon doing paperwork.

Wilbur,
That was my second time. Wife, kids, and I really liked it there. Our folks were getting on in age and figured we needed to come back.

Dick that's a nice looking 944.
Looking at all these cars makes me wish I had more spare time to spend on mine. Today I put some tyres on the rims I bought to see if they would fit without rubbing....;) looks good.

Ian,

When you have aways to go with a project, it's fun to do something (like hanging tires) to give you a feel for what it's going to look like. If you have been at it awhile, maybe a little encouragement.

Have you selected a motor for your project?
