tryin something new

I see people mixing 130 and 133 of lt30 and 32,,,with the slow 2015 lots of 133 I cant get enough in the ppc case to hit the fast node with 65-66 gr bullets,,,I mixed a very little Lt32 and N133 1/2 and 1/2 and loaded 3 rounds each at 29.2 ,.3 and .4

I had shot 30.3 133 and 29 LT32 with mixed results and decided to try a few rounds mixed to see how it would go,,hoping the 32 would speed the 133 up just a little,,

I will probably get raped over this but I did it and here are the results,,

I was told at AShooter that yall would be the ones to set me straight on this ,,no harm so far but looking for advice from someone that has done it and willing to share the outcome,,

Pretty good groups! I don't mix different powders but I'll pour what's left of one jug of 322 into a new jug regardless of which country it was made in. Powder manufacturers will very likely caution against such mixing on every account and I suppose I will too but again...pretty good groups!

Nice groups. I'm curious though....how does the gun shoot with straight 133 or LT-32 in tune? Meaning, were your mixed results with those over a wide range of load variables? (charge, seating depth, neck tension, etc).

it shot the older faster lots of 133 really tight but this new stuff is enough slower I cant get enough in to hit the high node and really dont like the idea of shooting the 200 yard UBR targets at 3250 fps,,the LT32 never shot as good as the 133,,I was just trying to speed this new 133 up to where it would hit the 3350 node at 29.5 grs,,

I have shot some current lots of Norma 201 this week that is shooting really tight also but IDK how it will shoot over a days time ..

for the match Saturday I plan on taking the Norma 201 load,,and the VVN133 3250 fps load and hope for the best if the 201 load quits on me the slow node 133 load is pretty dang good but pretty wind sensitive,,

if I had time to test the 32/133 mix over a day I would shoot it,,I shot a few more rounds with it yesterday evening and it was holding about 2 bullet holes better in the wind than the 3250 speed 133 and the bullet holes looked like they were cut with a hole punch,,

I dont have time now but maybe I will try Lt30 and VVN 130 before next month,,and before next spring I may look into a 6mm on the Grendel case for these slow lots of powder,,

2015 vit 133

The 2015 Vit 133 would not hold the tune very long at the IBS Nationals
at Fairchance. Of course the temp was 95 degrees and humidity was 85 percent.
Also, the elevation at Fairchance was about 2000 feet. The powder appears to be
fluffy. I have not chron o graphed the powder. I switched the rifle to Vit 2013
after IBS and the rifle stayed in tune better. I have not tried mixing 2015 with
another powder. However, a couple of people were mixing lt30 and LT 32 50/50
with modest results.

I got a chance to shoot a couple targets today and I am gonna shoot the Norma 201,,
I am pretty confident the 15-4-2015 vintage 133 will cost me at least 8-10 points due to the crazy vertical I am getting with it,,the LT32 I have shoots consistent just not good,,

it may blow up and not hold the 9 ring Saturday but over the last 2-3 days the Norma 201 has been real good,,but if there was a way I knew I was getting exactly half and half of the 32/133 mix in ever shot I would shoot it but I think I will go with the N201 for now,,

Use two powder drops if you are loading at the range. One for 32 and the other for 133....use a pill bottle to shake the two together and then pour it into the case. If you don't have two drops you'll need some extra containers (pill bottles) for however many cases you think you'll load at a time.

I hadnt thought of that,,I go preloaded and just got done loading all my brass with the 201,,depending on how it goes Saturday with the 201 I may try that for the Nov Match,,set 2 different measures up set to 14.6 grs each and mix them one at a time,,

I am gonna try this Norma 201 first but that sounds like it might work,,thanx

I dont shoot groups much,,I am shooting UBR score ,,last 3 matches I shot 495,506 and 499 shooting an older lot of 133 and when I had to get new powder it doesnt shoot like the old lot did,,

it seemed to shoot best at 3350 fps and with the old 133 was no problem,,this new stuff would take over 30 grs

tryin something else

Ive been seeing some guys using Pretty long drop tubes to get enough,
Of the N133 in a case. Go figure''
I bet way over the 30 Plus grains . I'm just wondering How much as to actual weight.

If you just want to go faster with the 6PPC, try Rl-10x. The load I shot at this years Super Shoot chronoed at about 3550 with screens at 22'.

A 50/50 mix of Lt-32 lot 1 and a medium pull down 8208 is stable and fast. These are high pressure loads so build up slowly and watch for pressure signs. I started the 2016 season with 7 sets of new cases. By the Roanoke match I only had one set of cases that would hold primers!

it is not just the speed,,the node that shot best was at 3350,,the next node down for my bbl with 133 is at 3230,,and it isnt as good as the 3350 node and I cant get to the 3350 node with this 133 without using a 10 inch tube and then I have powder up to the very top of the neck and have to crunch the powder all the way in and by the time I get to the range some of the shells will measure .020-.030 longer than when I loaded them and I get wild vertical,,hence the search for a new powder combo that will shoot as well as the older lots of 133 did,,
seriously I am not just looking for speed as if that was the case I have a 6BR and 2-3 6 BR-DX bbls I could screw on and shoot the 68s at 3700 if I wanted,,

I just started the UBR matches in April this year and have kinda gotten my brain calibrated to the 3350 speed node that shot so well,,I have shot a lot of rounds off my concrete bench at my house over my flags this summer really trying hard to learn this score game and break that 500 score,,which I finally did at the Gallatin GC Tn State Match with a 506 which was good for 3rd place Grand Agg,,
the UBR targets dont take a rifle that will shoot zero groups but one that is consistent and a shooter that can keep up with wind and mirage and a bunch of other crap,,

I am not totally crazy or tryin to reinvent the wheel,,just tryin to find a load that will get on the 3350 node that will usually hold a 20 shot agg in the .185-.200 range,,
the Norma 201 load is at 3290 at 29.5 grs but the powder is heavy for its size and I may try and hit the next node with it as the powder isnt even in the neck,,I will know more after I shoot it in match conditions Saturday,,

I will pick up a can of RL10 and see how it does backed down to 3350 as I am sure 3500++ would be really hard on bbls,,

thanx for the info so far as some of the posts above have given me some ideas to try,,I read somewhere that Bart was running a 6 Grendel case blown out with a 40* shoulder shooting 80 gr bullets,,and I may try that case next spring which should work with the slow lot of 133 and the 65s or could be a sure enough punchout shooter at 200 with the 80 gr Berger,,

Yes, faster loads are hard on barrels and much more hard on brass. In the 2012-2016 seasons I had to use a small base Redding die to get the brass back small enough where it would go in a PPC die.

Shooting an entire season of matches takes at least 4 barrels, or has for me.

But, I'm not trying to save barrels, I'm having fun.

How much Rl-10x? I have 10x from its original issue and some of 2015. Not really much in between. These two years chrono close to the same but I have no idea of other years. I bought 3 cases from Bill Krazenski when it first came on the market. Of these start about 28.5. I go way up from there to about 3550 fps. I will not print the load amount since your barrel, action and bullet is probably different. The 3550 load is with a popular 66 grain flat base in a 237/243 14:1 barrel.
