Our New Lathe Arrived This Morning.

A truck arrived this morning with these six pieces of 9” 1018 bar stock, 40’ long.

We special ordered them from Nucor to satisfy a contract for three 125 ft 3500 HP tugs. The shafts will have a finished length of around 36’.

The new Lathe will be busy.

Jackie, did they come from the Nucor facility in Norfolk, Nebraska?

If they’re really right then they came from Charleston, SC. I have a nephew there and he has a title. If they’re messed up, they came from Nebraska.

They are from Nucor, but the tag says Nucor Memphis, their new bar stock facility.

We have found their steel to be of very high quality.

One of our area drag strips is using the Norfolk Nucor's slag to incorporate into the pit area ground...like they do with asphalt millings. I was there last Sunday, in fact.

I remember when we handled pieces of aluminum tube
around that length and size for wing spars in drones.

We used to clear the tool room as we moved them around overhead.
