Once Again, Another Wind Flag Question

Ya know what's funny, when I was growing up, you ride through the neighborhood and see those daisy wheels all over the place. I have done some fairly time consuming internet search and the only place I see them is from Sinclair. No Home Depot, Lowe's, Garden Centers.....etc.

I guess they aren't in style anymore. Come to think of it, I bess dig up those tires that I painted white to line my driveway........

Call Amy @ www.brunoshooters.com. I bought some daisey wheels from her awhile back.....

OK, so I'm sittin here with a gigooter sheet of Coroplast. I have a little table-top band saw and a little table-top belt/disc sander sitting side-by-side. Cut out a pattern....slick, no problem, actually a pretty efficient way. I can stack 3-4 small pieces on top of one another and make 1 cut and get unifrom vanes. Uh-oh..................I have fluorescent orange & green paint. The last thing I wanna do is set up my flags in the field only to find out that when there is a right-to-left wind, everybody's flags show orange and mine shoe green.......what's considered proper etiquette here......and I know some of you are lefties....:D

thanks,

curtis

While at the bench - Green should be visible when the wind blows to the right.

one answer, But I will publicly and loudly state that YOUR FLAGS should show FOR YOU.:D What anyone else thinks of your color combo is irrelevant!!! As long as your flags are in YOUR lane, they have NO effect on anyone else. And it is VERY important that you be able to see your flags INSTANTLY. So pick the color combo and pattern that YOUR brain processes FAST! That is why you make your own or order them custom from someone like me.;)

By making them to the std combo when you look across the range to see an oncoming change you won't have to think about the color combo.

crb is right.
You might watch mostly your flags. But, if you are not watching all of the field you are missing out.
Remember you are looking for a "condition". And i have shot matches where I relied more on my neighbors flags than my own.
Also in bigger matches you will have to share benches and flags with someone - better to use the standard color so no one gets confused.

Well, I know I am backwards, I even have a left foot. I think I gottem' right.

Thanks all.

And while you are daydreaming

By making them to the std combo when you look across the range to see an oncoming change you won't have to think about the color combo.

looking aroungd the whole field, when you lok back at you line, are you really looking at your flags or the next line over, since your flags look the same as everybody's? You need to be able to INSTANTLY recognize YOUR flags in order to decide to shoot. My vote is for DIFFERENT!

I couldn't agree more.

Shape different.

Props different.

Color combo the same.

As long as I am at Riverbend my flags are unique. Only when I go up to Gold City are there clones. Even then I know which target is mine and the flags leading to it must be mine ;)

Think twice about tripods. They are much cheaper, but will not stand straight on uneven ground without shimming one or more legs.

I use poles rather than tripods. The last ones I bought were from Bill Dittman in Jasper GA. Very light weight, but also very stiff and have a foot rest so you can push them into the ground with your foot. They are quite pricey, but this is one of those "cry once" situations.

Is this ever true! Best flag stand I have used and Bill D is a pleasure to deal with. In my mind they are cheap for what you get.

I'm with David, while I'm there my goal is to beat the guy next to me not please him or her with my color combo, I want to be able to pick mine out in a crowd instantly and if my color throws the next guy off a little? point in my favor...remember this is Competitive Shooting.

Certainly, for me and most others I imagine, the objective is to win.

This being true, you stand a better chance if you can easily read the flags throughout the entire range. And this task becomes much tougher if the place looks like a kaleidoscope which it will do if everyone takes the approach to "look out for yourself and hopefully confuse your fellow shooter".

I am not for rules about colors but it should make for better aggs if all flags were more or less similar. I imagine my comments do not apply as much to "pickers" as it would "runners".

Steve and Francis...

You two stop that kind of talk, now. :D I'm pickin' up a visual on you two dressing alike.

What has been seen cannot be unseen. :D
