Hello All,

I purchased from the classified section a Leupold Competition 45X45 scope (my second one).

The scope has no standard windage and elev. adjustments, but rather a micrometer setup. The rings/micrometer system won't fit my rifle. Is there any way I can use this scope?

Sounds to me like you have a frozen scope with a Bucky's mount. If you have a digital camera, take a picture and post it here. That will clear up the issue.

If it has micrometers on the rear it may be a Brackney setup, they track really well. I hear nothing bur good reports
about them, from their owners.

The problem is that the rings are for a .22 rifle, and I have a Sako 6PPC

Steven,
You may be able to contact the person from whom you bought the scope to help you out. Perhaps there is another piece to the puzzle that they will be able to reveal and get you on your way. Did the add say anything about "Brackney" or "Buckys" frozen scope?
The rings that you have may be more suited for a 1" scope tube and the leupold comps are 30mm. If you give Bob White a call I am sure that he will be able to furnish you with the proper rings...unless you have a frozen scope and then I would contact the seller of the scope to help you get you to where you want to go.

Hello Mike! How are y ou!

I did email the seller and asked him to contact me. It did say Brackney's rings but I just thought they were another set of rings. I didn't know the scope would come without turrets. They are 30mm, as they came with the scope.

I contacted bob Brackney, and he said that there really isn't anything I can do. Leupold won't touch it, and to adapt those rings to my Sako would need the services of a gunsmith. Contacting Bob White is a good idea, though.

I think the only option I may have is to resell it on the forum classifieds. I hope the seller calls, and I'm going to call Leupold on Mon or Tues.

I would suspect that those rings are for Davidson bases rather than the 22 grooved-type base. You could post a picture and folks here could easily verify.

No matter, don't act rash as you have a fairly desirable item and can get where you want to be without losing your shirt.

I spoke to Bob Brackney, and he did say that they were for Davidson bases. When I post the item for sale, I'll post a link to the pics. If I can figure out how, I'll post them here as well.

Steve,
Why wouldn't you just put a Davidson base, or bases on your rifle? That is a very good setup, as far as holding point of impact.

Not a sucker trade if he is unhappy and can't do anything to correct the problem. I really don want to get rid of my Leuy either.

The frozen Brackneys are going for almost $1,000. 36 BRs, Tucker conversion or no, are going for considerably less. There is one in the classifieds for $500 right now...

That one is to older model without the lock ring. The ones with the lock ring sold for more. The point I was trying to make, is neither scope is worth much if they can't be used for the application you purchased it for. To someone that has a need and a way to make it work, priceless.

I'll trade you a 36X Leu that has been Tuckerized, straight up.

No thanks! I'm interested in 45X. The only trade I'll consider is an unmodded 45X competition scope for mine.

Steve

There was a 45x either in the classifieds here or on 6mmBR for $825. That is a decent deal. You could put your rig up for sale and not be out of much. They come along fairly frequently. If you got in a pinch, you could buy a used T36 and use the Brownell's 30mm to 1" sleeves and even be able to use your 30 mm rings when you later found a45 LCS.

Bottom line is that you have options that won't end up costing you $500.
