Odd Leupold Competition Scope

The frozen Brackneys are going for almost $1,000. 36 BRs, Tucker conversion or no, are going for considerably less. There is one in the classifieds for $500 right now...

But the thousand dollars includes his rings too.

If the fellow wanted to trade for just the frozen scope, then my bad. That was not said initially or in follow up, though.

what base mount/holes does the sako have ??
they do make a 22 3/8" to std weaver adapter base adds very little height..near none...

No, I would like to trade with the scope and rings for a std. 45X45 competition scope. I can't even get the rings off the scope.

Mike,

Can you elaborate a bit more? who makes the 22 3/8 " to std. weaver adapter?

Steve

I did post some pics of the scope. Hopefully they are attached

You aren't supposed to take the rings off this scope if a Brackney setup. The scope is frozen internally and useless without the adjustable rings.

Check with BKL, for a adapter or riser that would fit your Sako. They have them for 11mm & 14mm, The riser will raise the bell of the scope for clearance.

PS No, I wouldn't trade for the scope only. By the way, the offer was made in jest, just trying to get more involved with suggestions.

.....I have a Sako 6PPC

Steve, what model number is your Sako? Is it the type that has the top of the reciever machined for the factory Sako rings? Looking down from the top of the reciever, the integral 'bases' on the reciever will have a slight taper from front to rear.

If that's the style Sako you have, the adapter bases you've been advised to use will not work....they are for rimfires. -Al

Al,
Sometimes it's tough to figure out one is trying to fit a round peg to a square hole! :) Greg

If Brackney rings and he froze the scope he should have the internal parts to be able to return the scope to factory configuration. His freeze is not permanent....if done by him. Call him. You can then try to sell the rings, but it would be easier to sell the whole unit then start over with a new Leupold scope. Your rig should bring $1000-$1100...if you didn't beat up the rings trying to get them off and the scope is in good condition. Good luck. Greg
