'Zat wolf asleep, or.............

just lazy?? Doesn't look as though he could pick it up if it was dead; looks like they're just funnin' one another.

I blew up the image as far as I can and found no artifacts that suggest photoshop.

My dog is nearly that big, he's a Bulgarian herd dog.

The animal in that picture is very large but Canadian Timberwolves have been recorded of about that size.

A security compamy in Florida used to have Timber Shepard wolf dog hybrids, they were at least that big. I stepped on the front paw of one that was under the desk at a service station I used to get gas at.
It was like stepping on a bear paw.
That particular dog later got his collar hung up on a garage door and choked to death.

If one big one isnt enough, there are usually 5 or 6 hangin around with him! Magnums!? Better get a BAR:D

The three wolves I had come by me in Alaska a few years ago must have had a bad case of worms. They were not any where near that size.
That guy has the biggest hands I've ever seen.

I had an female Arctic wolf hybrid (15/16 wolf, 1/16 malamute) that weighed 70 lbs. She had lots of hair and very long legs with big feet that made her look heavier than she actually was, but under the hair she was quite slender. I think Timber wolves top out around 140 lbs.

Maybe the guy in the photo is a dwarf.

I had an Alaskan Timber Wolf for almost two years before I had to put him down. He could put his paws on my shoulders and toward the end he weighed 136 pounds. But, he looked skinny when you looked at him. He could eat more food at one sitting than you could imagine and he also had to unique ability to turn everything in his system to liquid diarrhea in a split second when he was scared...needless to say, not a good house pet!

It might just be the photo but the wolf in that pic looks huge!

Black

Whad he shoot-im with, & how far? I didn't know any canine got that big! :)

I would guess that image was made close up with a wide angle lens then cropped. Any way you cut it, it's still a very large wolf/dog/canine.

well i dont know about that picture but

september last year i was floating down a river above the artic circle and as i came around a bend i said to dave "quick get your rifle there is a caribou"

holy **** thats a wolf not a caribou"
we did not get him so i dont know how big he was but - big

They killed a two year old female wolf by me that weigh 170 pounds we figure one of the males in the pack weigh over 200 pounds.there supose to have a hunting season this year on wolfs but i am not holding my breath.

To each his own, but I never take the life of anything that I don't intend to eat, except for something that poses a danger to myself or my family.
I find it sad to see a beautiful life (any life) cut short just for the sake of sport.
Go ahead, flame on, but this is how I feel.

Not so hard to believe

I owned an English Mastiff that weighted 235 pounds.

Woof Man was born here on our property and went on to become a Breed Champion.

To give you an idea on how big that dog was I could make a fist and put it in his mouth past his back teeth!

Woof Man was never fat/over weight.

Along with his mother and a real B**** of a Cow Dog we never had a Mountain Lion problem.

While hunting elk last year in Wyoming there were wolves nearby. I will never hunt that area again, because they are just to scary. Bears, black or grizz, I have no problem with them at all, even when coming across tracks and scat. If you run into a pack of wolves you are in big trouble and your dogs a dead, 235 pound Mastiff or not.

SSS!

The Guiness Book of World Records had an entry on two Norwegian Wolfhounds that were over seven feet long and weighed well over 300 pounds , 340-350 I think it was.

That breed of dogs was said to fight wolf packs in pairs, and that while a single Wolf Hound had all it could do to take on one wolf, two wolf hounds working together could often wipe out an entire pack of six or more without injury to themselves.

The "Alaut" Warhound was possibly the largest and strongest of dogs, the ancestor of the Mastiff.
Alauts could crush the head of an armorered Knight inside his helm, they fought standing on their hind legs and those belonging to Nobility often wore plate armor like a knight. Kings of france gave these to favored nobles as bodyguards.
They may be the basis of the WereWolf mythology.

It's my understanding they could row a boat and they could be taught to shoot a long bow. I have an oil painting of several playing poker.
