Hi,

Does someone know if anyone sells clamp-on tuners like Jackie makes. Does Jackie sell them himself btw ?

You can try time precision at
http://www.benchrest.com/timeprecision/

I had one put on my 30br that initially came off after 2-300 rounds. It is now JB'd on has remained rock solid since.
All you will have to do is give Art the measurement at the muzzle and then 1" back from the muzzle.
It is an over the muzzle design and is fairly light and does effect group size positively.
Good luck.

The one of the best known tuner maker in the rimfire business is Scott "Fudd" Hamilton.
Scott offers clamp-on tuners for rimfire and a tuner especially designed for centerfire.

If you want a clamp-on tuner that has enough weight to tune the barrel itself, contact Scott.

The tuners I make are not clamped on, they are on a .900 36 tpi, 2 inches long. The two small 6-32 pinch bolts lock the thread..........jackie

Jim Borden also sells one that is very simple in design, bordenrifles.com. Randy J.

Borden Rifles Tuner - Got them on two rifles - They flat out work!

Here come a real bonehead question regarding the picture above:eek:

Are tuner threads on the barrel exclusively cut on a lathe or die cut...??

Be nice.

From what I have seen to date

Jim Borden has the most practical approach to the situation and his tuners are very well done. I must say, I am not in love with the Nylon screws but I could live with them. Perhaps Aluminum screws would be more appealing ?

I feel safe in saying that there are few competent craftsman who would cut a tuner thread with a die nut. I single point mine at the same time I cut the crown...........jackie

Can use set screws

Pete-I agree--I personally use the nylon screws to make easy to adjust at bench but I also provide 2 10/32 ss set screws and 2 lead pellets that can be sued to retain tuner--only drawback is one has to use allen wrench to loosen set screws when adjusting the tuner.

Hi Pete,

The thing I do like about the nylon is that they are so easy to adjust while at the bench. The "must remain seated while adjusting tuner" rule....

Another alternative is a small piece of monofilament fishing line under a set screw. I use this for the lock rings on loading dies and it works great.

Al,

I'm having a hard time visualizing how to use the line.

Adrian: Butch nailed it..just a small chunk of monofilament.

I should have 'splained it better.....another cup of coffee would have done it. ;) -Al

Answer in Dutch

He Jim,

Hoi,

Bob.

...with the last name of "van gorder" one would think I could read that...
