AR Class

i have my local machine shop build a 3 x 7 x1/2 aluminum plate. then mill a radius groove down the middle ( 7 length) to match my free float handguard.
i then glue and screw it to the handguard. screws are a pain...think i may glue this one(had it built yesterday) then drill and pop rivet in place. fill the rivet holes to regain the flat smooth surface.

If I were looking to flatten the round handgaurd for bags I would fab a flat 3 inch wide plate and attach it using picatinny rails, that way it would be a stable adjustable attachment.............Don

what rails ??

round tube...no attachments...a simple plain round tube.

and that would generate more joint surfaces..more movement....which is why mine are glued in place.....no movement.

That's what I thought

Geraci made one for me 2 years ago. Works great, except for the screws. I'm trying to come up with a quick detachable gizmo, but hit a wall.

I have the front (not shown) and rear EGW bag riders. They are del-rin.

Midway USA had them posted, but always not in stock, so I bought direct.

Could'nt the same arguement be made about the AR class?
Perhaps even more so?
How many box stock Ar's do you expect to see win? Do you expect noone to throw money into an AR to make it competitive?
How much $$$$ have you spent on yours?
And yet you see nothing wrong with competing against someone who just pulled one off the shelf. just sayin.....

Besides that, have fun;)

Lot of the custom 1911 guys are making some very fine AR's. See Les Baer. He offers 6x45 with a nice barrel, not quite a bull, but nice.

Sounds Great

I like the sound of that I'm having a new AR built and would love to give it a try after breaking it in and working up a load.
