2011 IBS Nationals

Matt it's my understanding the entries cannot be limited. As for benches the answer is below. I'm a rookie so take this with a grain of salt but the White Horse pit crew is probably good as it gets.

As for what's going on? Below is from their site. Note the email address for questions. This is a large undertaking but they have people up to the task.

IBS 1000 Yard 2011 Nationals

September 3, 4, 5, 2011

This will be a 3 target aggregate match in both Light Gun (LG) & Heavy Gun (HG), 6 targets total and hosted by the White Horse Firearms and Outdoor Education Center. Location is 9.7 miles south on State Rt. 20 from I-79, Exit 115, or 10.1 miles north on Rt. 20 from Buckhannon, WV. Watch for the Department of Natural Resources sign directing you to White Horse Center.

· Practice/Sight-in will be Wednesday, August 31 and Thursday and Friday, September 1 and 2.

· The range will be open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday and 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on Friday.

· There will be a $10.00 per target charge for the practice/sight-in period and the shooter must furnish own target puller.

· The match will be Saturday, Sunday and Monday, September 3, 4, 5.

· White Horse reserves the right to reduce the number of days based on participation.

· Membership in IBS, NBRSA or Williamsport is required; bring your current membership card(s).

The 1000 yard firing line is concrete, faces south-west, has a gravel parking/walking approach and contains 14 covered concrete benches with double carrier pits that will be staffed during the Nationals. · The fees for the Nationals are $80 per gun (Junior fee is $40 per gun) if postmarked before the early registration cutoff date of August 8, 2011.

· Fees postmarked August 9, 2011 to September 2, 2011 is $90 per gun (Junior fee is $45 per gun).

· All registrations must be received by 3:00 pm Friday, September 2, 2011.

· NO walk up registrations will be accepted.

Will we be required to actually check/sign in before Saturday (Day 1)?
The reason I ask, is that at Harris, MN last year we were required to check in the day before the match started. I’ll have my Registrations in on time but travel is going to be Horrendous. I’ll leave work driving from Corpus Christi, TX on Wed. afternoon (700 Miles) headed home. Then take a nap, load up and drive (845 Miles) to White Horse. I just need to know if I can get much of a nap!

matt52, i have shot in the world open a couple of times. you guys are the best there is at moving a match along
your advantage over whitehorse is your pit access
at whitehorse the targets from the previous relay have to come right up the middle of the range to get to the scoring tent- firing line . not sure that can happen in 5 min
at best only three relays per hour times 14 benches 42 shooters per hour times 3 targets = 3hours times 3[for 120 shooters] == 9hours straight with no breaks
pretty long day
 
I hope the target carrier has a four wheeler, or he or she will really be tired. The next rely can be setting up while the taget carrier is running the targets back. You'll be fine!

The set up we have at Williamsport is pretty nice ,but the only advantage to the pit access we have is getting the targets out and scored as promptly as we can.You wouldn't have to send the targets after each relay,have a runner ready to go when relay is over.
After saying that I'm sure the W.H. staff will put on a really good match and thanks for the info you supplied.

they use two atv's one brings the targets to the 600 yd line and hands them off to another atv that brings them to the
scorers table just like the pony express
don't think it can be done any faster
i've shot 6 or so matches there over the last 2 years and don't remmber any that got over before 3 or 4 PM
thats with 30 to 35 shooters using 10 benches
they have added more benches since then which will help speed things up
still think its a large order, but hope all goes well
any info on how the practice days will be conducted,
one hour live fire' half hour pit-target time????????

Does anybody know if we will have access to shorter ranges when the 1000yd range is hot? Any help is apreciated. Thanks Tim in Tx
 
Is there anyone out there??? I sent an email regarding a vendor at the Nationals and never got a reply.
 
Ok

I give up on the email response-none- how about a phone number???? Have to make travel arrangements and a response is necessary to do so.
