Ferris Pindell shot some 81 grainers on an about 1" jackets but I didn't get any info on thebarrel used. The case was a PPC with a 40 degree shoulder that held about 2 grains more water. My version of it held 3.5 grains more water since I ran Ferrises reamer in 0 035 deeper. Mine shot 90 grain Bergers great in an 8 twist. Good enough to win 4 pieces of wood in an IBS 600 Nats.

What Bart was shooting at River Bend looked promising. Hopefully he will give details.

I seriously doubt your 13.5 will shoot the 80's if they are on long jackets. Bullet stability is is effected by cylinder length not weight. 600 yard shooters who shoot 6mm 105-108's use 7.5-8 twist. But try it, what the hekk!

when I try the 80`s I will screw the 12 twist bbl back on,,depending on if I can get the 80`s up fast enough to be worthwhile over the 68s with the PPC case I may send it out and have a 6BR reamer run in it,,
I will not be trying to shoot 80s through the 13.5,,

just for kicks and giggles I may load the 80s in my 8 twist BR-DX and shoot 2 guns the last match ever at the TVA Steamplant range at Gallatin,, seems they will be closing for good 11-14-16,,

I've been to the Gallatin range twice in all these years but it doesn't seem right that TVA is closing the range. Maybe they will leave the benches alone in case somebody changes their mind. Nice range!!

I have been fooling around with a PPC. and a 8 twist barrel and 95 gr Bergers and Spencers. a 24" barrel will send them out at 2900 and in a nice little hole....... jim

Jerry,

I was shooting the "Grinch". It's a 6.5 Grendel case blown out to a 40 degree shoulder. Its the brain child of Dean and Brett Stroud of Cape Girardeau Missouri. Its kind of like shooting a zippy BR. At Riverbend I was shooting 80 gr Dominators with a 12 twist barrel. That was my first time out with it at a match. Greg King won a 100 yard match in Kansas City (18xx agg) with the same combination. It appears to be just as accurate as a PPC, but should really shine in snotty conditions at 200 yards.

I just got back from the 600 yard IBS Nationals. I shot the Grinch with 8 twist Bartlein and 103 grain bullets. It's shot very well! They started with around 84 shooters. I Came in 7th in group in the light gun. Overall in group if you combined the LG and HG I believe I was 12th. It shot some impressive groups, 1.1, 1.4, 1.5 1.6. Those are the smallest groups I've shot in competition. It agged a 2.3 for 16 targets. Pretty impressive little cartridge! That wasn't shabby for the first time out with that combination.

Bart, The 6br. imp. shoots very small too, It cranked out nice .1 groups with your 105 with 3 different loads of RL-15...... jim

my BR-DX shoots Barts 105s in the high .1s and low .2s at 100 yards,,maybe I will shoot it in the UL class at next months UBR match and shoot the 6PPC 13.5 twist bbl with the 68 BTs I been shooting and see if I can do any better at 200 with the 105 load,,

I really hate to put 130 rounds through my best 8 twist bbl in a day but it will be the last Match at the Steamplant and may as well have fun with it,,I never shot it at 200 but it will shoot sub 1/2 inch groups at 300 yards so it should do well if the load will shoot all day,,

Your bullet holes at River Bend looked good to me....but.. I can't really see "round" anymore.

Bart, that has got me wondering. Wonder what your 80 Dominators and a 10 twist would for 200 group?

The only 10 twist I have now is a Remington factory barrel. Not a good test.

??

Jerry,

The 80 gr Dominators are made on a .900 long jacket. The 10 twist is a little quick but should work. At Riverbend I agged a 2344 at 200yards and shot a 231 which was small group for the heavy 200. I let the tune get away from me or it could have been a really nice agg.

Bart

I tried the 80 Berger in my Brux 8 twist 6 BR-DX today and I believe I will shoot it and the PPC at the last UBR match ,,the only reason I havent shot it yet is that I didnt want to burn it up as it shoots really well with the 105s at 600 yards,,but I am gonna give it a try and maybe next year try a big fat heavy 12 twist Dasher,,maybe if I started at 30 inches I could set it back enough times to last half a year:cool:
