This may not matter a whole lot to most folks

concerning custom actions in hunter class Orland and I had this debate on the way home from one of our matches. I only shot Hunter (VH) rifle 2 and half years so I am not usually one to get into such debates but I couldn't fathom why a custom action spoiled the Htr class. Both NBRSA and IBS...

    South Dakota Bill

The federal government can only act on what the constitution and bill of rights provide. All else is states' domain. At least that is what I remember from my school law professor. Hopefully I remembered it correctly. As previously mentioned, even though those documents may not provide an in...

    Going out of business

Is the system fair?? Is any scoring system based on a fixed diameter fair to use in score shooting? Isn't a fixed diameter penalizing a bullet hole that is out of round (either by wind or just unstable)? Why not just go with the bullet hole and magnification?? We already accept the fact the...

    Bullet Brand/Pressure Differences?

Your assumption is incorrect and there lies the error. Assuming that a safe load with a particular bullet can be transferred to another bullet is a wrong assumption. If you read the beginning sections of any handloading manual, each with clearly state that a change in ANY component that is...

    Ibs hof

There is no IBS Score hall of fame It is simply a Score Hall of Fame and people from NBRSA or IBS can make the list. Whether it is up to date or not is a question I can't answer. Gary Long had a lot to do with the institution of it and the members are in charge of it (independent of either...

Shooting for perfection should be difficult. I'd be all over it now. Pete, time for your meds?

    Neck Tension?

All of the replies state forces necessary to move the bullet in a static situation. Does the case neck expand with the case upon powder ignition? If it does, doesn't that change all the pressure parameters for moving the bullet when compared with a static state? I do not have the answer. I...

    Only about a month away

Jim, you have helped me in the past as well as many others. I am fortunate in that respect. I am the person responsible for running my matches and others are welcome to provide perspective as to how to make them better or improve attendance. I will listen but in the end they are my...

    Only about a month away

Jim It doesn't matter how many Mainers travel as long as the 3 match directors do. Hard to run a match while out on the road. SSOY USED to be what drove my shooting schedule and thus my schedule for holding the matches for which I direct. You are right in that we have a lot of whiners in...

    On Electric Cars:

How big is big? Based on the following: 1st 16 feet are clear of knots and the small end of the 16' section is still diameter 36" (not counting the bark layers), there are 945 board feet of lumber by International Log Rule. The last I knew, Select pine was going for $500/1000 board feet. That...

Greg It was been over a day since alinwa posted and I am still grinning. I couldn't even read it to my wife without lol. It took me three times before I could get it out. Sorry, Greg

The Great Score Target and Bullet Size Controversy

Mike, you had me lost in all of this until today, because I couldn't figure out what rankled your feathers. I think I have figured out why. I believe you read some intent that was not meant to be there. I am not and was not trying to be antagonistic. Originally I was speaking globally and...

The Great Score Target and Bullet Size Controversy

Mike, I read the posts and interpret what I read. I may have misinterpreted why Danny changed some things about the score "game" and developed his own version of a score game called UBR. A lot of what I have read spends a great deal of time touting the caliber neutral scoring rings and not so...

The Great Score Target and Bullet Size Controversy

There isn't any right or wrong with UBR or the present registered Score matches. I came into this sport knowing what the rules of the game is at the time. So be it. Doesn't matter if my personal opinion thinks the system is unfair! The rules were in place before I started and if I don't like...

    30BR Powders Tested

I noticed the change when I went from 2009 Hodgdon 4198 to 2012 Hodgdon 4198 back in 2012 or 2013. The 2012 lot was denser by about 0.4 grains with the same measure setting and by weight I had to drop the charge back 0.5 grains to get back to the speed of the 2009 lot. Since then the variation...

short range hunter nationals WORLD RECORD

Wouldn't be a World Record if it is 100/200 match. Frank McKee shot a 500-30x back in 1998, which still stands as an IBS record. That one is a true Hunter record. Dean Breeden also shot a 500-30x with a VH rifle last year which may have been at the IBS 100/200 Nationals. Never the less...

    Which Harrell's 30BR Resizing Die?

I had to go the other way... I used a 2.5 Harrell's die that worked appropriately until I had my reamer reground to remove some freebore. With the new chamber, I noticed immediately how much more effort I needed to resize my cases. I also noticed my cases "growing" which had not been an issue...

Sine marks on fired case necks

Soft brass will cause a just a ring... I have gotten the solid ring at the top just after annealing my brass. After the first firing it usually disappears. If your necks are already on the thin side them Mr. Stiner is probably correct.

    my first benchrest

I am a score shooter ... and switched from a Farley to the Seb NEO. I prefer the NEO. It is smooth as silk and the tension of the stick can be adjusted more precisely than the particular Farley I had. The NEO has been a great rest for me.

Best Bullets for a 1.560" Case Length/Zero FB 30BR Chamber

Bob, depends on the bullet I am not familiar with 95 grainers, but I will assume they are short. Do you know the ogive of that particular bullet? I shoot bullets on the .925 jacket from 7 to 8 ogive and mine has zero freebore. If I use a 7 ogive 118 grain bullet on the 1" jacket, I have...
