    Bad threading job

    I agree with Mike on some import lathes you have to set the compound to 59 ½ degrees to get the correct angle. Like Mike I found that to be true with the first practice cut on my Birmingham lathe. Possibly the chamber was cut using a center to guide the reamer with an out of alignment...

    At this time your closes places to shoot benchrest are Visalia or Phoenix. Angeles Shooting Range is currently getting approvals from the county to put in another range at their facility that can use for benchrest matches. Hopefully we will be able to resume monthly matches next year sometime...

    Neck Turning tools

    I will second the Pumkin. It is a little more money, but you don't need to have one for roughing and one for finish. With his design you can very easy rough then move it up for finish and hit the size you want first time. The change from rough to finish only takes a few seconds.

    Chamber run out issue

    Larry Did you measure for run out after you bored the hole? Even though you used a carbide boring bar it is a small diameter and the boring bar may have been pushing off. With a floating holder the reamer is only going to follow the hole.

    Sticky front rest bags?

    A simple fix that will not leave any stains is to put a sheet of note book paper between the stock and the bag. It will stick to the bag and the stock will slide smoothly on the paper.

    Mobilmet 766 cutting oil

    I use Sunnen MB30-5 honing oil it is mineral oil with sulfurized fat and animal fatty oil. It is a bit over kill for cutting oil but works great and easy to get in a five gallon pail
