    book recommendations

I build rifles on Mauser actions, and I can say that the Kuhnhausen book is the very first one that you should have. Web resources in addition to the Mauser Central site mentioned above should also include www.sporterizing.com Good luck! Clemson

    Boyd's laminated stock

I think you will find it to be polyurethane. Just get a satin spray-on Polyurethane finish to blend into the existing finish. No need to remove anything. Clemson

    Twisting the 257 Roberts

I have barreled several 257 Roberts jobs with 1 in 10 twist. I have personally shot bullets ranging from 87 grains to 120 grains from them, and all shot fine. My favorite game load is a 100 grain Nosler Partition. It shoots surprisingly well in all my Roberts guns. Clemson

    tailstock zero??

Jerry, are you in favor or against the Manson Floating reamer holder? I ask because it is the only one that I have used (borrowed), and I had no particular problem with it. If there is something better, however, I am open. I have been looking to buy something soon. Clemson

Bill Calfee: I will certainly try to get a copy of your article. Which month of Precision Shooting do you expect to see it in? I don't subscribe, but I will try to look it up. Others: What you are missing is the letter that I sent to the Dope Bag. Unfortunately, I don't have it either. As...

Tapering Straight Barrels - per Dunlap

The recent thread on turning down an existing barrel got me to remembering (a sometime thing nowadays) a letter that I got a few years ago when I sent an inquiry to the American Rifleman magazine's "Dope Bag." I got back a letter from none other than Roy Dunlap. Check out the little drawing in...
