Savage 12 BVSS 223 load advice

5.56 chambers are free bored to allow longer to the ogive bullets, the pressures of the NATO cartridge are about 5K higher too. I won`t shoot them in my rifles. YMMV

    Custom brass and bullets

Wilber would you expand as I have been, and turn prior to the 1st loading or turn the case while the neck is still .224" and then expand? Will just touching them up be likely to do it or, should I turn them completely in your opinion? As I said I don`t want to get them to the point I can`t...

    Custom brass and bullets

Yep! The die was free and being a poor retiree I`m loath to spend an extra $100 on another die if I can figure out a way to get this one working. Don`t apppear it is going to happen thought at the moment.:(

    Custom brass and bullets

Butch, sorry if I`m coming off wrong, I`m just frustrated I guess. I don`t mean to. I think I see where you are going with the fire forming using wax and pistol powder. Don`t try to rough form then fire form but, fire form straight from the bag then worry about resizing or neck ID? This will...

    Custom brass and bullets

The expander has to be run through the case to expand it initially. The subsequent sizeing and expanding is being done this way because I found a long time ago running the expander IN a already sized case mouth seemed not to induce runout, where as expanding by pulling the expander OUT of a case...

    Custom brass and bullets

I`ve tried running a tapered expander in the case to open the mouths. Used Imperial as a lube on new Win and Hornady brass. Both showed ~ 0.005"-0.010" total runout after expanding. I loaded them with a fairly stout load 26.5 H335/70gr Sierra and got nice straight brass from the chamber and...

    Custom brass and bullets

Hmm, I didn`t see a count and was figuring it at 50 pc. 20 @ that price is a bit steep for my blood. I did a once fire after expanding the mouth but, the run out is as bad as it was on the new brass. I`m pretty sure the neck thickness is to blame and was hopeing to find a way to skip turning...

    Custom brass and bullets

Has anyone had any experiance with this supplier? I have been playing with a 6x45 lately and I`m either doing something wrong or there is no way to open up .223 brass to 6mm without ending up with a case that`s crooked as a dogs leg, and in dire need of turning. These guys advertize the cases...

    Powder Names

RHM43 be aware the powders in the chart you`ve linked to are "similar" but not the "same" powders. The powders I`ve listed are the same powders except for name and any differences are due only to "lot" variation. There was another slightly expanded chart listing "same" powders out there...

    Powder Names

Hodgdon used to list all their powders and their aliases in the MDSD pg but only show limited powders anymore. These are a few of them HP38/W231 HS6/W540 HS7/W571 H110/W296 H414/W760 Smokeless (Hodgdon) Clays Family Powders Clays (AS30N) Universal (AP70N) International (AS50N)...

    setting shoulder back

Spring in the press frame or spring back in the brass if not moved back far enough to start. Can you see light between the ram and die with a case in the holder and the ram at TDC? You need to seat deeper if so. Are you lubeing the case mouths? Shoulders can be "pulled" forward by the expander...

Jewish Cab Driver: A clearly inebriated woman, stark naked, jumped into a taxi in New York City . The cab driver, an old Jewish gentleman, opened his eyes wide and stared at the woman. He made no attempt to start the cab. The woman glared back at him and said, "What's wrong with you, honey...

    6x45

I happened on a deal on a Cooper M21 in 6x45 and need some advice on where to start in a search for a load for it. The twist is 1/10", the rifle is planned for nothing but putting little holes in paper (hopefullly) and club shoots at this time. Has anyone got an idea of a good bullet wt and...

    Ruger American. Anybody shoot one?

Decent for the $$. I`ve seen 3 at the range and all have shot on avg ~ 1.25" @ 100 yd or better. One I got a crack at and managed to drop 2 in one hole with a 3rd ~ .2" from the others. The trigger is a Savage clone, and nothing to write home about. Also I`m not a fan of the plastic stock, but...
