Anybody who shot good... yesterday shot REALLY good. We were down there in the morning and the wind was howling. Dick

Factory class etc... aka "leveling the field"

Mike... I won't argue too strongly about the ar's. If you showed up with one such as you describe, I wouldn't have a problem with your shooting it. However, you would be responsible for ejecting the first 6'6" ape that showed up with an ar without your mods. In 19 years we've never had anyone...

Factory Class at the National level

Charles... I don't think Factory Class on a National level would work. I think we are wasting our time to even try it. To me, Factory Class is a starter class, a way to introduce new shooters to the sport without making them buy a competitive BR gun and all the necessary accessories. The idea...

Factory class etc... aka "leveling the field"

There's no need for another... target. It just complicates things. We've run factory class in Harrison since 1991 and the simpler you keep things, the better. You really have to divvy factory class up into two classes. One is for completely stock guns, another for guns that have been modified...

Richard, The only time anyone will ever object to your posting on here is if you say something they don't like. Dick

Jackie, The NBRSA sanctioning VFS is the most sensible thing I've heard in a long time and for a lot of good reasons... You already have a gun. A 10-1/2 lb. 6 PPC works just fine. Every group shooter in the world has one. A 13-1/2 lb. 30 BR works even better on a score target. You will be...

Thanks Joe... Nobody, but nobody, does that half as well as you. FWIW any one who doesn't know who Joe is hasn't been paying attention for the last few years. Dick

Glad to hear that Lou is.... Southwest Regional Director. Maybe he can solve a problem that Precision Shooting has every year. The Cactus is one of the matches that count toward Shooter of the Year points. EVERY YEAR after the match Brennan finds it almost impossible to get the match results...

    NBRSA members

Lou, You're right... Wilbur did address it to NBRSA members. You know, I practically never hear from you. When I do I always have a strong feeling that someone else put the words in your mouth. I wonder why that is? Dick

Next match... will be a score shoot on June 13th. There is also another group shoot in June on the 27th. We have a rimfire shoot on May 23rd. As always we have a factory class so you can bring your squirrel rifles. Dick

Charles... Gonna challenge you right back. I have been instrumental in running most of the matches at HARRISON, MI since 1991. Holton is about 115 miles West of here. I haven't even been to Holton in several years. If you want a feel for our matches, read the match reports and comments...

On the things that count... change in the NBRSA is an oxymoron. You asked for specifics... O.K. Benchrest is losing members because as we olde pharttes age, die or drop out, we are not being replaced by new blood. From lots of personal experience over the last 32 years I can say for sure that...

Tim, I started running benchrest matches in 1977. Most of the time since I have gone to the match, shot, scored, etc, etc... It felt immensely good to simply do nothing Saturday. I'll get the gun going and be ready for the next match. Dick

Tim, You hit the nail on the head. Our matches are fun and friendly but there ain't nobody that's gonna give you nothing. Everybody busts their butt and then sincerely congratulates the winner. It's called "sportsmanship" and it is not common to all benchrest matches. If I recall, you were...

Boy, you got these results posted... quickly. A couple of things... This Bassham guy claims to be a new shooter. In view of the old shooters he beat, I'm kinda wondering what "New" is.;) Didn't I hear a rumor of somebody shooting four into a .040" group and making a "Six" out of it with his...

    Harrison Group Match

Jhart You DO NOT have to belong to either organization... our matches are unregistered. We have ten benches and usually run two or three relays. You can load at the range. We have an excellent building for same. Tomorrow is a group match. The 10-1/2 lb. and the 13-1/2 lb. classes are...

who actually has a BR gun built on a Trued model 700 action?

Danw530 Anyone that says a properly built up M700 can't be made to shoot extremely well doesn't know what they are talking about. It just isn't financially sensible to have the work done now, even on an action you already own. And it almost certainly won't shoot if you save money by having the...

    Harrison Group Match

You are getting mellow in your... old age. Anyway... me too. I just like to shoot and even to just go to matches. On the rimfire, Worthington is now retired and wants to shoot. Bob Hoard wants to shoot and might even help with our .22 matches. He has run the Cadillac matches for several years...

who actually has a BR gun built on a Trued model 700 action?

Dusty, The gun was written up in PS last year. I don't know which issue but it's my old Ferrari gun. The calibers are .22 SBR (.200" short) and 30 BR. The scope is Sightron with a Stevens (Yeah...him) modification. Email me or call me at 989-386-3932. If you wanted the gun I can sent it to...
