    My new reamer

At the grinding operations, reamers are first ground round to the precision dimensions. Then the back off operation is where the clearance is ground leaving only a .001-.002 margin which is that very thin line of the precision round grind that you see at the cutting edge.

    Stevens 200 Woes!

Pete, I was just bushing a firing pin hole on a 200 and a thought occurred to me. Remove the firing pin and take drill bit the correct size for the firing pin, and make sure the hole in the bolt head doesn't have anything in it to hang the firing pin tip up.....just a thought.

Did you figure it out yet?

    Stiff bolt closing

So from what I measure, I'm getting .270/.271 of firing pin fall. Does that sound a bit excessive?

    Stiff bolt closing

OK. I'll bite.....how is this done? Is it a trigger modification or a cocking piece modification? Both?

    Stiff bolt closing

I pulled the firing pin (same thing) and yep, the bolt is as floppy as any other action. No drag whatsoever.

    Stiff bolt closing

No. Not even close to that point. It seem to be at the point where the sear/cocking piece hand off and lug lead ramps are on the down stroke of the bolt handle.

    Stiff bolt closing

P1000 action. Stiff bolt closing on an empty chamber. It clicks down off of the primary extraction surface, then stops at the sear pick up, then needs more pressure to close moving firing pin slightly rearward.. Any ideas what might be the cause? Jewell bench rest trigger, no safety, set...

    HOKAYYY... DOTS @ 100 and ES under 10fps..... 600?

If the conditions are good and the nut behind the trigger isn't loose, then why wouldn't it? I'd say with the right bullet for 600, with a low e.s. load, it should be capable. The thing is, to dot at 600, everything has to be perfect, especially each and every bullet and every piece of brass...

    6br, imr 4350, 95vld

I have just started tinkering with the 6BR again and I'm looking at W760 (H414) with the 95 VLD's. I got some data from Berger and it looks like you get a bit more velocity then varget. Berger data is showing 98% fill ratio at max load of 34.1 grains. Anyone tried it?

    New barrel material from Bartlein

Jackie, I agree, but I'm one of those guys that likes to wait after the 1st model year or so to see how things pan out. Especially in the area of machinability.

    New barrel material from Bartlein

    Hornady 6 ARC

Well Hornady came out with another new one. Looks like they took a PPC and blew the shoulder forward about .041. OH BOY! Another invention! :p:D https://vimeo.com/424873712 Chamber drawing here. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2020/03/20/6mm-advanced-rifle-cartridge-6mm-arc/

    Copper primers

Dave so it was a Remington factory thing or could you actually buy those primers as components?

    Copper primers

I just rebarreled a 722 action in 222 Rem and came across these in my cabinet while hunting for some brass. It looks like factory loaded Remington with copper colored primers. Anyone ever seen these before. The rifle belonged to my Dad's hunting & shooting buddy until he passed and was bought in...

    Remington 722 ejector

Is the ejector for a Remington 722 with a 222/223 bolt face the same as a Remington 700 with the same bolt face?

    Changing neck tension

I got that part, but if it isn't any better or it's worse, then where from there?
  18. R

    Has anyone seen this?

    Hmmm

    Changing neck tension

So then is it better to retune with seating depth or powder?
