Your favorit 1K Custom Action, and why?

I have an R.F.D. benchrest action.Left port right bolt, sako slyle extractor. It was his personal action and stock, glued in.It's set up not to eject the cases so you can just take them out and put them back in the cartridge bin.Locks in to battery super easy.

Charles,

I'll take you up on that.

BAT is the way to go.

Why?
Simply because you get what you pay for and the service is great!

As for quality and function they can't be beat. Some say they are too tight...
That's normally because of their loads and other factors I have been quilty of myself in the past- can't blame it on the action.

I use them as do many others I know and those who don't want too.

Your problem is solved or your question has been answered....

" BUY THE BEST AND CRY ONCE"

Although I never cried... once, when I bought the five I own. And you can be sure I wasn't crying when I set two world records and held onto the ten match agg record again in OHIO with it. My rifle sat on the dresser in my bedroom for about two weeks after that so I could see it when I went to bed and when I woke up! My girlfriend said I was obsessed.... I am. And I love it!

Most say your brass makes all the difference.. it does, but with-out a TRUE close tolerence action it (brass) won't stay the same.

Lawton, Stiller, Surgeon, Kelbly's all make great actions too. I guess it's personnal preference but BAT has always came through for me in TIME, PRECISION, PERFORMANCE and SERVICE. That's worth a few dollars more.

My opinion which probably means nothing but there it is.

Imbecile.

Peter,

I recognize that English is a second language for you but to call Charles E. an imbecile was a gross error on your part. That will probably discourage other board members from joining in on your threads.

Jay

As to imbecile:

mbecile (plural imbeciles)

1. (obsolete) A person with limited mental capacity who can perform tasks and think only like a young child, in medical circles meaning a person who lacks the capacity to develop beyond the mental age of a normal five to seven-year-old child (not commonly used today)
2. (informal, pejorative) A fool, an idiot.
* Usage note: Commonly used in jocular insults.
Nope, doesn't fit.

As for
Shoot Well
I already do. Perhaps you mean "Shoot Better"? All of us who compete could use that. But then, you refuse to compete . . .

Jay and Charles

I think Peter uses imbecile in about 95% of his posts so its probaly been in his vocabulary alot over the years.I don't know why but I have a few ideas I won't mention.

On the action question I also like the big 2 inch diameter BAT for a heavygun. It has good tolerances and can handle a heavy barrel. If you get a right bolt left port with the right eject it is very fast as long as you have a cartridge holder on the left hand side of the bench.
On a lightgun I like the Stiller because my cartridge is a 6BR and he has the drop port option.

Thanks guys. It's great to see that at least some of you have the ability to directly answer my question as it was intended to, without going into the usual. (he this, he that crap).

Jay, I recognise that my English's bad, however I'm equally as bad in other five languages.
Will Charles E shoot better?,,, I hope he does.
Will it worry me if Charles E or anyone else who chooses to do so will ignore my questions?,,, Absolutely not.
Is Charles E or anybody else who chooses to ignore my questions my enemy? Absolutely not.
Is a Mauser 98 your favorite action? So be it, as I have no reason to dispute it.
Keep in mind, that any replies to my original question are welcome.

Shoot well

Peter I don't know what happened between you and the other posters but Charles E and Jay are both good guys.Maybe your calling them imbeciles is not sitting well with them? Over here calling somebody names doesn't help one out in getting answers.

As to your original question on the actions.Alot of the custom actions made are intended for 100,200 yard benchrest shooting with a very small case and a short light barrel.
Your on the 1,000 yard forum were 200 pound heavyguns are not unheard of.My newest heavygun action weighs over 6 pounds just for the action alone.
If your after an action for a lightgun the strictest rules we have still allows for a 16.5 pound rifle. If you were more specific about what you were building it would make the choice much easier. In the type of shooting we do here you can get a bigger action than you need in case you change your mind and want to build something else down the road.In the 100,200 yard game your pretty much going to use a very small case and don't need a 2 inch thick action.

I never plan to shoot in any competitions, however I've always been interested in rifles since I was in Kindy and the last 8years I have interest in 1K shooting. Not for me to compete, but the level of consistant accuracy at 1K you guys are achieving with wide range of cartridges and calibres. I have no interest of building a rifle for this either.
I'm more interested about your equipment/components/reloading techniques and the shooting wind strategy, than your competitions.
I've no venomocity against any of you and I believe that you'r mostly good guys and many of you shoot extremely well.

if you have the interest, why not check out the match results and equipment lists for your self? if you do not plan on taking up LR benchrest or building a gun of this nature, why waste time of people here? when imbicile is your favorite word of reply, used more than once by you. Ron Tilley

Peter go to www.dragoman.4t.com and check out what you can do with a 700 Remington action. Its just two pictures of an old 300 Ackley but it gives you an idea of what can be done.
The barrel is 36 inches long and 1.750 inches in diameter its entire length. The bolt has two sleeves on it to remove any slop a Sako extractor and a 0.62 bushed firing pin.The action has been bored to 0.705 and everything has been trued up.The action was then sleeved with a multi-faceted sleeve and a BAT bolt handle was installed. The stock is a Shehane heavygun laminate painted a pearl and clear finish by Michael Kavanaugh. The barrel block is one of mine that is 9 inches long and split off center down the bottom. The bolt shroud has even been fluted.
I sold it 2 days after receiving it without ever shooting it as something new came along.

all in fun,I think?

Darn, my 375 Cheytac is to light for heavy gun.It only weighs 34 lbs.Man I wish Ohio was'nt so far away.I'd like to come and shoot with you guys!350gr at 3150 fps shoots in the 4s.BC of 1.0

The RFD mentioned above would work for light gun.It shoots in the 1s and 2s with 115 dtacs at 3100fps.
