Guys

Any of you shooting the Remingont XR100 in 223 with the 40Vmax or similar?

Wondering how they shoot?

I know they are pretty darn good with the 50's......

Those 40's shoot tight?

Cheers

Not a .223 But....

I was shooting next to a guy yesterday with an XR-100 in .204 shooting 40 gr handloads and he shot a .250 inch 5 shot group in some pretty windy conditions.

I'm shooting a 223 AI built on a Farley Firefly action with a 24" Shilen SM stainless in a McMillan stock and decided to go to 40 grainers just to have something different from my 22 PPC, 22 BR, 223 all shooting 50 grainers.

I'm shooting the 40 grain Nosler BT at about 3900 fps using 2015 powder. The bullet will go faster in this chambering, but accuracy suffered, so I let the gun tell me where it wanted to shoot. I zero all my varmint rifles at 100 yards and then twist knobs for range. On the 223 Ackley, any prairie dog 300 yards or closer is point blank range and I can really clean out a field in a hurry. It shoots in the 2's and 3's and the only problem is I have to watch barrel heat. If the wind is blowing hard, I usually have better success with either my 6mm Rem or 6 BR, both shooting 75 grain V-Maxs, But the 40's are fun and accurate.
