XP100 mounting holes....

I have an XP100 action that I want to pillar bed...that will require screw mounting it in a stock..the downside is the factory mounting holes are less than desirable...the front screw hole is in the barrel tenon area...the second is not threaded and is in the loading port...my question is what is the accepted method of getting it ready for a scew in mount...I have thought about drilling and tapping a 1/4-28 hole in the action just below the bolt lug recess (same as the 700 Rem.) and then tapping the loading port hole to 14-28 as well for the rear hole....
What are you guys doing to your XP100 for a screw in mount..???

As long as the metal thickness in the bolt lug recess is the same as a 700 I think you plan is a good one. Float the tang like you would a Savage. On both my 40X rimfire and centerfire I use the threaded hole in front of the trigger as the rear action screw. On the centerfire I d&t'ed to to 1/4-28 and on the rimfire it's still the original smaller thread.

On a similar note, on my Suhl I moved the rear action screw forward so the rear pillar could be full dia instead of being cut away to clear the front of the trigger housing.

Eddie, I have made aluminum bedding blocks for the XP's I've done, both for pistol and rifle, similar to the HS Precision method. The front screw only has a couple threads, and it seems common practice for XP guys to mill the barrels threads off at this location so you can grab all the threads there. I think I upped the rear screw to #12 and made them longer into the bedding block. I's been a while....

Burris makes a mount. I put one on my XP with no drilling. One screw in the rear and two if front similair to a 700. I had to call them to get it. It was not listed in their catalog at the time.
