Hi, can anyone tell me anything about a Simmons white tail classic scope. It is the WTC 18. It is a 6x20x50. Have the chance to buy one new in the box for 85.00 but do not know anything about it. Any info would be helpful. Thank you.

macv,

I've seen too many scopes with the word Simmons on them fail. Especially under heavy recoiling rifles. The phrase "you get what you pay for" is true in this case. At least that's my opinion. Personally I would have no confidence in it but that's just me.

May not be what you wanted to hear.

If your not concerned about the scope holding its zero under a moderate recoil rifle then buy it. My experience has been "pay once, pay no more"!

If

you want a cheap scope that will hold up then i suggest Bushnell. altho it is not up to benchrest standards it far out preforms the few Simmons scopes that i have had both for holding zero and clarity.

Hi, thanks for some of your thought's. I never owned a Simmons scope before but I did know that they were not high end by all means. It might be ok on a cheap plinking gun with no serious intentions. I do however find my Bushnell 4200 on my Savage varminter to be a good combination. True, not the best benchrest scope, but it works out well. Thanks again for some of your opinions.
