ive been trying to decide on a stock for my SPS tactical for the past 4 days, ive been going back and forth between this and the choate varmint and i think ive come to the decision of this one but just want to make sure that it is a bench style stock. my shooting is 100% off the bench at 100 and 200 yards at paper. hopefully i can get some quick response because i want to order from brownells and their free shipping offer ends today.

thanks and nice place you have here.

Any stock will work off a bench but a genuine BR stock works the best. IMO the stock in the link would be poor for use off of a proper front rest and rear bag.

what style stock would this be considered. my bench shooting is off a bipod and no rear sand bag.

I think you should upgrade to a BR front rest and a rear bag. Get an 'Accuracy Asset' from Sinclair so your rifle rides the front rest like it's supposed to.

The flaw that I find with the Accuracy Asset is that it is attached at the front of the forend. I have usually found that rifles with sporter sized forends shoot better when rested farther back toward the action. I have seen some relatively good shooting done from the bench using a bipod and a benchrest style rear bag. The only suggestion is that I have found that a putting something under the bipod's legs, to reduce the tendency toward bipod hop is useful. In the past, simply opening an thinly padded soft rifle case and putting a single thickness of it under the legs worked fine. These days, on the infrequent occasion that I shoot a hunting rifle from the benchI use a home made rest that has a specially designed front bag for shooting rifles with hunting style stocks. It works better than any standard bag that I have tried.

You are confusing shooting off a bench with Benchrest, tactical stocks are not very good benchrest stocks but that does not mean they are not suitable for what you want.

This is the wrong place to ask the question though, the Fatory / Hybrid forum would be much more suitable.
