Congratulations to Ed Kenzakoski for his win in 2 Gun Overall at the Open. This is gett'n old Ed...

Also to Matt Dienes (what a surprise) for winning HG Overall

And Jay Burger (also no surprise) winning LG Overall.

Then also, Congratulations to our Junior Champions in Light and Heavy.

Brandon Chackan took home the HG Honors.

Suzie Early went away with the LG Title.

Great shooting Everyone.

Full results and standings are posted on the PA Site. http://www.pa1000yard.com in the World Open Section.

Phil,
I was checking out the PA website last night around 8 or 9pm and you had already posted them at that time. Awesome job!

I hope the turnout was good overall knowing the current situation with fuel prices and all. But hopefully the club was rewarded for their forward thinking over the last year or more with the rule changes that were made to make this a true World Open match.

Ed's isn't getting softer as he gets older...

Matt D... that about par for course for him and the WSM

I don't know Jay myself so congratulations to him and both of the junior shooters also!

Steve

Thanks to everyone...

There is a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes way before and after an event of this magnitude...

Jean-Pierre and I would like to thank everyone at 2008 World Open for such a professionally run event, from the target crew and pit pullers, to the all the guys, to the all ladies, and to all the great people who worked so hard getting the tremedous prizes from the generous sponsors of the 2008 World Open. Thanks for your hard work and it is greatly appreciated. Congratulations to all!

God Bless, Pierre and Jean-Pierre

Thanks Steve.

Actually on the timing, it's kinda funny but folks at home can actually know the results of the WO before we do. We can't get the results till they go to the website cause that's where they get tallied up. I just didn't come here to announce them being up till I got back to work today.

The turnout was better than we could have expected, though we didn't hit an attendance record. We had exactly 140 in each class paid. So that made all of us happy, shooters, sponsors and club.

Looking down at group and score aggs, as always in these types of matches, the numbers are really not indicative of how well all these guns shot. There was NObody who got away without having to shoot in some really tough stuff this weekend. If you didn't get it Saturday, you got it Sunday or vice versa.

I spoke to someone today who said that there was 2" of rain which came down last night up there and I believe it. Wow did it pour, and several times. We were getting worried about being able to see to finish the last two relays with all the delays but, with some patience, everything panned out in the end.

It was a great weekend, you missed out on a good time.

If I was to make two assesments of things which need worked on in matches like this both here or anywhere, I'd say we need to start working on ways to make accomadations more affordable. If we can't fix the gas situation, we should work more on room rates and such. It's just a thought. In that dept, I dropped the ball this year.

I also think clubs need to look into doing bus trips for these big matches. I've looked into details of this several years running now. It was borderline on being cost effective back when gas was $2. Now, though I've not looked into rates lately, I bet it's a no brainer to do it. Like everything else though, someone has to plan way ahead and money has to be put up in advance.

Amen to what Pierre said. Through all the match, everyone pulled on the same end of the rope to make it come off, including help from club members any time we asked. Just everyone made an effort to keep things running smooth and it certainly showed.

What a great time and a superbly run match. Many thanks to the cordial folks of the PA club that made this a terrific weekend. Hats off to Matt Dienes and the team that collected one of the most laden down prize tables I have laid eyes on in my 6 years of doing this. I had the opportunity to poke a little fun at Matt at the end of the match and like the great person he is, he took it in stride and now I am certain my retribution will be shortcoming! :D Great fun and I completely enjoyed my first, and for certain not last, trip to Williamsport.

Thanks again
Rob Ashcraft
