Winter?

Anyone interested in sharing what they do over the winter in regards to shooting sports. Some in the Northeast go indoors and shoot handguns. Some prep for the shooting season some I guess do nothing. I shoot and reload handguns, anyone else want to share. :)

out here in Manitoba I still go out to the range occasionally and just shoot my factory 243 Win. No flags. Just me and the elements.

Some times I may take my Browning Buckmark 22 cal pistol out and shoot a few plates. It is not the same effect as a 40 or 45 on plates but cheap to shoot and a lot of fun.

When I am really energetic I drive out to the country and chase coyotes.

The toughest part of this winter thing and not shooting the Benchgun is trying to remember what to do in the spring when you get back at it. I find winters as very tough times as I grow older.

As for me, I check out Benchrest Central and respond to Vinny's biting comments. It occupies a lot of time!

I identify with the "trying to remember what to do in the spring". I learned a while ago after my head injury to audio record what I do. I forget a lot of things since getting knocked out by a tree. 6 concussions will alter ones ability to recall information so says the Dr. Anyway, the memory is getting better.
I love to shoot my handguns indoors and out. The reloading is so much more simple for hand guns, hell I have a a progressive press that I can knock out 500 rounds in an hour. I do go through allot of components over the winter, but its worth it. I've never been in your part of the continent but from the pictures I've seen its close to Gods country. Cold too, love the cold.
Enjoy the rest of the winter!

What's this "winter" I keep hearing about?

I cut my grass yesterday

However, can't honestly recommend that you visit here in August. 100 degrees with 100% humidity. As we like to say - it ain't the heat, it's the stupidity.

Proud to swim home.

Winter comes to Florida

Well it looks like Florida has a case of the Winter BLUES.News said this morning that it was in the teens. I guess the wife will have to go without her fresh strawberries on Valentines Day :(.That's not a PLEASANT EXPERIANCE ON MY PART

In the 80's through the weekend....what's winter??

Right now what we need is the wet stuff.....BAD!! Burn Bans in effect and a grass fire of sorts almost daily. Ranchland is all fuel right now.

Yeah we had two days of weather in the mid 30's, but look at the forecast for this weekend at the Manatee Match near Ellenton, Fl in the upper middle of the state. (Highs in mid 70's and sunny)

Why not try us?

Normally, we shoot

Before Al Gore's global warming, we shot year-round in LA. Now, Al has the weather so messed up that it is too cold. I have several friends in WI and MN that have suffered greatly this year and have shooting withdrawal. Good shooting....James

No burning ban here in Iowa. Last time i heard, snow isn't flammable. We've been getting your moisture here by the looks of things.

Got the old rail out last weekend. First time i shot since the Nationals in Az.
Ah, the smell of burning powder.

I enjoy reloading and expeirmenting with different bullets and powders for my handguns. I like 1911's, got a new 10mm :) real "sexy" ;) when cabin fever set's in I go "Elvis" and start shootin inside the house ! :D I have a secure area in the basement that contains handgun loads safely, I'm a confirmed bachelor stay alone. Be glad when the weather breaks.

I often thought to shoot in the basement. It's 65' long but, unlike you I'm not a bachelor. Married to a great girl, 4 dogs & 3 cats. Although if I new :confused:how to stop them safely I would definitely shoot down there:eek:. What kind of 1911's you have?

vinny, I seem to be partial to Springfield as my first 1911 was a SA 45acp.My recent acquisitions have been a SA SS loaded Champion, a TRP w/Armory Coat smooth shooter ! and a Dan Wesson "Razorback" in 10mm a impressive pkg of energy in a 1911 simply awsome !

Wesson's are sweet. An acquaintance at the range shoots a Valor 45, its a real nice gun. I recently added a Kimber Warrior to the mix. Tight as a clam, just as nice as my p220 I think. Might even shoot as well!

In Iowa when we can see the deer we know it is Spring.:D:D:D

Up here on the North Coast we keep on shooting if it's above zero. Below zero I stay in the shop and reload, refinish a stock or work on motorcycles.
