Winter Matches

Cool Acres Range, Georgia

Any 600/1000yd matches in the warm south this winter?

Google- Cool Acres Range in Swainsboro Georgia. They will most likely be holding 1000 yard IBS sanctioned Benchrest matches starting in January 2012. They have held matches for the last couple of years, and did a great job of it. Their schedule may not be posted yet, but probably will be posted very soon.
Great guys to shoot with.

As for temperature:

Not bad! The official IBS dates can't be set until after the IBS annual meeting, but Cool Acres starts so early, I can't imagine IBS not confirming all their dates.

The Ga. 1000 club will be hosting matches starting Jan. 2013. Schedule is being finalized and should be posted soon. All come join us for a fun time and good shootin. Eric Alred has a nice range with friendly conditions most of the time. Hope to see ya'll there. Sure would like to see ole Charles E. come down and shoot a match or two. Thanks, Mike

I hope to Mike, we shall see. I was only able to make 8 matches this year -- and since they are all two-a-day now, that's just four days. Life intervenes, esp. as you get older.

Saw Shannon Lowman at today's match at Butner, and he said he been to over 50 matches this year. Hard to imagine.

For those tracking SOTY, Sally Bauer was at Butner & won one relay (9 on the relay) and one match (19 people). A little light on the turnout, but it as a cold day.

Charles, I was told she won 4 relays and 3 matches.....jim
Actually, that could be so. If I wasn't shooting, I was in the pits. Busier than a one-armed paper hanger -- which essentially, is what pit duty is...

We fit everyone into two relays, and the demands for pit work was high. I don't really know what happened, except in match 7, LG group, Sally won one relay & Jim the other. As he declined to shoot in the shootoff...

EDIT

Or maybe it was score -- the more I think, the more I think I don't know anything, except The Bauers won some, with Sally wining the most, and Thomas Ellington broke a long drought...

I was only relaying what i was told, but i have no match report and i was a little closer than Charles who was there...... jim

Edit:

We really should get this thread back to Winter matches. Whatever happened at Butner, the next closest guy wasn't there. Don't believe there is any possible scenario where Sally Bauer isn't IBS 1,000 yard SOTY. Congratulations to her!

Now, on to the chillier parts of 2013, when we all start afresh!

Results just up:

In match 7, Sally won her relay in LG group, and the shootoff, and HG group, and the shootoff.

In match 8, Sally won LG score in her relay (relay 2) She did not win anything in HG, but did win the LG score shootoff.

Total: 3 relay wins and 3 match wins.

And not that anyone but me cares, but my LG is flat out broke!!!!
