i'd like to build my own set of windflag poles & was wondering if anyone knew of a place where i could get a set of plans to build them from, any help would be appreciated...r

Go to a ham radio shop and you can buy aluminum antenna tubing that slips one into another. You can drill and tap the side for thumb screws. Make a spike for each one and after knocking it into the ground slip your telescoping poles over it.

I used teloscoping monopods that I bought from walmart for around $7 a piece (in sporting goods). Just screw the gun rest part off and screw on a piece of brass tubing with a bearing epoxied on the end. They will go as hi or as low as you could want, light weight, and colapsable for easy transport. If you ever need a monopod for shooting you can always screw the gunrest back on. The ball bearing makes them nice and smooth operating.

PS. I made a spike for the first one but then found that it works just as well to cut the end and smashing it in a vise. They are alluminum and plenty sharp for pushing into the ground without filling with dirt.

nonliberal,
You ain't tried to put one of your aluminum poles in Texas soil. It is very hard for me to get my stainless spikes knocked into the ground unless it has just rained.

Your right Butch, this is Missouri soil which gets more than its fair share of rain. ;)
