Winchester 52 D trigger adjustment.

How do you cure trigger problems on a Winchester 52 D serial number 144xxxD? First I couldn't remove the bolt so I turned in the adjusting screw until I could, now I can't reset the trigger to the previous setting, the gun no longer cocks or fires. What should I do? Thanks, PhilCz
