Will 6mm PPC Extract from Savage 12 LRP 260rem

I have a Savage 12 LRP in 260 rem with the barrel shot out and was thinking about switching calibers when swapping out the barrel. I've read that in some rifles you can use the 260 rem (.308) bolt face as long as the extractor will pull the case out. Does anyone know if it will work on this rifle? Not looking to spend a bunch of money and have always wanted a 6mm PPC to shoot for fun and maybe get me started in entry shooting comp.

I am not absolutely certain, but the replacement bolt heads available from Dave Kiff at PTG will most likely fit. That way you could just use a dedicated PPC bolt face. Nat Lambeth would know the particulars as he has a good reputation for Savage work. Depending on your intended use, you might also consider a 6mmBR.
 
Your current bolt head and factory extractor will most likely extract the cartridge just fine. Sometimes the case may fall out of the bolt head as the bolt is being pulled rearward. With my rifle this happened just enough to cause me to want to fix it [ shooting in BR matches where you didn't want anything distracting you ]. SSS makes an extended extractor which solved the problem. If you aren't shooting in competition you may be totally happy with the factory extractor.
 
we have everything that will help a savage compete with any other Trued Factory Actions and most aftermarket's , PPC or any other Cartridge . The Rusty Stud performance kit is fantastic (Nathanial Lambeth ) HA Ha , just couldn't pass that up . , Hell I'm even doing One Piece Bat / Panda Style Cone bolts with Remington .062 firing pin assemblies for a Savage . I will not leave one stone unturned in a search for the best performance parts for today's rifles .
