Now HERE’S a ranking you won’t often see. The P70 certainly has proven itself competitive and we’re all holding our breath as our perpetual number 1 shooter sorts pellet choices out with his TM. The winds were not consistent but that’s no longer unusual. It’s those unexplained elevation hits in the 9 ring that cause the colorful language heard periodically on the firing line.

Shooter Ser. Class Equipment Tgt. 1 Tgt. 2 Tgt. 3 Total
Mike Hopkins II HV Feinwerkbau P70FT 249 10x 244 7x 248 15x 741 32x
Tom Santos II HV Feinwerkbau P70FT 245 5x 242 7x 244 5x 731 17x
Ron Silveira II HV R.A.W. TM1000 .177 237 5x 245 8x 245 4x 727 17x
Linda Hopkins II HV Feinwerkbau P70FT 238 3x 240 6x 245 4x 723 13x
Steve Ware I HV Theoben Tactical .177 234 4x 241 8x 240 9x 715 21x

Next tournament will be Outdoors August 28, beginning at 9:30 am.

You certainly ran away with that one Mike, well done.

Must admit I’m not getting the results I expected from the TM (at 12 ft/lb). Going to try a couple of new barrels without the shroud on and see where we go from there.

Out of interest, “King Pin” in the air rifle at Plzen were the Walther rifles, Dominator and LG 300/400’s

Hi Brian,
Ron is finding the same issue with his TM. His P70 remains his most accurate.
That's quite a surprise to hear the Walthers ruled. We've had a couple of them in the group a few years ago but they couldn't top the P70s. They were the best looking, however. What have you found to be the most accurate pellet in your TM so far, JSB? Monsters?

Hi Mike,

When I bought the TM I purchased a second barrel with it, an unshrouded 17”. This wasn’t by chance, as I had read somewhere the P70’s use a 17” barrel (16.75” to be more accurate).

Only had the one chance to try it so far, 25yds indoors, 5 shot groups with AA 8.4’s @ 776fps

All straight from the tin, never even checked for damage, worthy of further investigation I think.

Brian

Edit: with the standard 19” shrouded barrel, JSB Express were the most accurate (indoors, but not out, where AA field 8.4’s proved a little better)

Plzen, Ist place LV – Walther Dominator, 1st place HV Walther LG400 (much modified). Plenty of TM’s there, but for the most part didn’t seem to do as well as I had expected. A little more development required maybe.

If you have several hours to kill there are a load of pictures here: http://br50.com/BR50/Pilsen-Europameisterschaft-2013/pages/0001_benchrest-em-wc_2013-br50.html

Pellets

From the targets, I would definitely continue the testing of those. Surprised at the velocity (low) and the lower weight pellets. I would think the wind would reek havoc. Ron's experimenting with the heaviest pellets he can find.

It does :(

Problem over here, the legal limit for an air rifle is 12ft/lbs – 776 works out at 11.23ft/lb, just to be on the safe side.

Makes life interesting when the wind picks up :)
