Well I clicked on my link to Benchrest Central last night and found.:confused:.................almost nothing. There was one forum with one post from Wilbur, almost had a heart attack and thought something had happened and all the forums and posts had been deleted.

Wilbur Thank you for Benchrest Central, some of us appreciate the forum you provide for us.......Ian

PS Glad all the posts and forums are back:D

Sorry Ian - I went off the handle there for a minute or two.

I apologize for that and for a couple of snide remarks I made to my friends in the process. Kinda like peeing in your pants - gives you a warm feeling for just a bit but uncomfortable over time.

Forums can be really good and really bad, i also goit a shock yesterday but i reckon it was a timely reminder to everyone how we should use the forums, so i say well done.

This short line is the most important:

Thank, Wilbur.

***

The rest takes up a lot of space, which only makes it seem like it's more important.

It won't work, Francis. I'd use the (fact of, not thread about) the moderators as an example. As Wilbur said, they were started to take care of spam.

Now in the background, there had always been BR Central rules, enforced by Wilbur only, at his pleasure. As time went on & "Super Moderator" appeared under the name, other people on the forum noticed. And asked "why don't the Moderators do something" about whatever was bothering them. Well, at first, that seemed to work, and everybody was happy. I think "at first" lasted about week. Then some of the more vocal, insistent posters got the other end, & were asked to tone it down. "What," they said, "You can't mean me, you're abusing your power." Etc.

So, Francis, I believe your proposed forum would be fun only at first. You can call it a slippery slope or inevitable outcome, but I think a forum where dissing is encouraged is doomed. Especially for those that don't have your wry tongue...

Well done is an understatement! I had occasion to use the classifieds to sell some stuff. Quite simple and impressive to use. Wanted to comment on this earlier, will take this opportunity to do so. I went from a guy loading for a deer rifle to owning real good shootin guns and winning wood from time to time.Meeting excellent people probally the best part. Blame it ALL on this forum. Thank You Sir!

Some get too darned serious on here and long distance road range prevails. We have to step back sometimes and take a breath and let it go.

Francis this is one statement that is so true..........one thread that really bought that home to me was the demise of a certain bullet making thread.

Perhaps some of the posters who seem to push others buttons and START arguments should have their posting privelidges revoked or suspended and a sticky made of who and why this was done..........perhaps it will teach some to think about what they post..........Ian

Wilbur no need to apologise.......if some can't play together perhaps it's time to start a bit of tough love.........suspend posting priviledges and make a sticky outlining who and why.......Ian
